Homeopathy is the law of similars founded by the German chemist and physician Samuel Hahnemann in the late 1800’s. Homeopathic remedies, all systematically prepared, are taken from nature’s three kingdoms – animals, plants, and minerals. In a homeopathic consultation, the patient describes his illness, his emotional sensitivities, dreams, phobias, and his body generals such as food, sleep. The homeopath now has gathered all of the patient’s symptoms which become the patient’s “picture”. As each remedy has its own picture, it is now the homeopath’s job to analyze and match as closely as possible these unconnected symptoms to the similar remedy. The remedy works on the deepest level of the patient and over time healing takes place. Homeopathic remedies treat the whole patient and not just the disease. The disease is the result and not the cause, so the remedy is actually treating the patient’s “perception” of his life situation and opening up his awareness. When there is awareness, healing occurs and the disease disappears.
“The cure of the part should not be attempted without treatment of the whole. No attempt should be made to cure the body without the soul, and if the head and body are to be healthy you must begin by curing the mind, for this is the greatest error of our day in the treatment of the human body that physicians separate the soul from the body.” (Plato 427-347 B.C.)
