Trainee’s Instructions for January 2015 CSA Reaccreditation Exam
Registration: First group (G1): 9- 9:45, second group (G2): 11- 11:45
1- Stations start at 10:45 AM (G1), 1:30 PM (G2).
2- You are required to stand by your first station 5 minutes before its starting time.
3- On the first day you will pass through 7 stations and two rest stations in between (the same applies to the second exam day). Every station lasts for 10 minutes.
4- Before each station, you have two minutes to read the candidates’ instructions (an extra copy will be present inside the station). Please read instructions carefully.
5- Do not attempt to talk to your colleague.
6- When you hear a bell, enter into the station’s room for ten minutes.
7- Introduce yourself, handle the examiner one of the 14 stickers bearing your name, make sure not to lose your name tags and carry them with you on the second day.
8- Raise your voice so that the assessor can hear you and evaluate your performance. N.B. some of stations might have an observer beside the assessor.
9- Start managing the case according to:
A- The task specified in the candidate’s instructions (if provided specially in cases of procedural skills).
B- Patient’s opening statement in other CSA stations.
10- Always stick to the task and ask the patient the questions relevant to their health problem.
11- In procedural skills stations, act as in real consultations, describe and explain the steps of the procedure at the same time you are doing it .Do not Use English language & medical jargon.
12- Unless this statement " You are not required to examine the patient is mentioned clearly in the candidates’ instructions, you have to examine or attempt to examine the patient.
13- You are required to write on paper (if relevant to the case) the diagnosis, order investigations, referral letter and prescription according to the management plan.
14- Stick to the allocated time of the station as specified in the candidate’s instructions.
15- Do NOT interact with examiners by any means.
16- When you hear a bell, leave the station immediately and stand outside the same door of the station.
17- If you finish with the station earlier before the specified time, please thank the patient and leave the room immediately without interaction with the examiners. You are not allowed to reenter room again.
18- Stay by the door of your station until you hear a bell, then move to the next station in the same order (1 moves to 2 and 2 moves to 3 and etc…… 7 moves to 1).
19- You are supposed to finish exactly 7 stations on each day. Follow the same instructions for every station.
20- At the end of your stations, leave the floor with the doctor in charge. Don’t try to interact or talk to the examiners or role players after you finish your exam.
21- Give your written feedback at the end of the second day.
