AstraZeneca Egypt is glad to conclude this chapter of the Young Health Programme (YHP) with Plan International Egypt and in collaboration with 5 ministries.
The Young Health Programme is our global health equity and disease prevention initiative. Active since 2010 in 40+ countries, YHP aims to prevent common non communicable diseases (cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases) by addressing five key risk factors: to***co use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, harmful use of alcohol and air pollution. By enabling youth aged 10–24 to understand the harms of to***co for lung health and the environment and to turn knowledge into everyday decisions, the programme has strengthened prevention and access to credible information and services.
In Egypt, delivered with Plan International Egypt and in collaboration with five ministries the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Education since 2021 YHP has directly reached more than 91,000 young people and extended its impact to over 1.1 million individuals in underserved communities, helping to narrow gaps in prevention, awareness and support.
At AstraZeneca, we believe that investing in the health and well being of the younger generation is central to a more equitable and resilient society. Our partnerships reflect our commitment to advancing health equity for people, society and the planet.
