The British University in Egypt (BUE) was honoured to host Prof. Luciano Saso, Professor at Sapienza University of Rome and former Vice-Rector for European University Networks, for a week-long academic and social visit to Cairo.

As part of his academic programme, Prof. Luciano visited the Faculty of Pharmacy, where he had a comprehensive tour of the educational and research facilities. Prof. Luciano also delivered an insightful session to the health cluster.

A highlight of his visit was the university-wide seminar which Prof. Luciano addressed academic staff from across all disciplines.

In addition to his academic engagements, Prof. Luciano joined a leadership meeting with Prof. Mohamed Ismail, Advisor to the President of the University; Prof. Yehia Bahei-El-Din, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President for Research and Enterprise; and Prof. Mohey Elmazar, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy. Moreover, he participated in a roundtable discussion with key faculty members and researchers. These meetings aimed at exploring potential collaborations in joint research projects.

Prof. Luciano also toured several of the university’s flagship facilities, including the BUE Library, the Nanotechnology Research Centre (NTRC), and the Science and Innovation Park, where he was introduced to various interdisciplinary research initiatives and innovation-driven projects.

The British University in Egypt looks forward to building a strong and impactful collaboration in the years ahead.

As part of the Health Cluster initiatives, the Faculty of Pharmacy proudly participated in a medical convoy to Toukh, Al-Menoufia, delivering essential healthcare services to the local community, in collaboration with the Faculties of Dentistry and Nursing.

On Thursday, July 10th, the convoy highlighted the outstanding contributions of our pharmacy team. Under the supervision of Dr. Rasha Tawfiq, Assistant Lecturers Nahla Ahmed, Sohair Aboelghar, and Khalid Khallaf, our students demonstrated exceptional professionalism, teamwork, and dedication. Together, they successfully dispensed over 200 prescriptions, ensuring patients received both essential medications and proper pharmaceutical counselling.

This initiative reflects our deep commitment to experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and impactful community service. We are proud of our students and staff for their continued efforts to create positive change beyond the university setting.

Special recognition goes to our dedicated students: Amr Monzer, Omnia Ramadan, Mohammed Elnamas, Farah Mohammed, Nancy Yasser, and Zeyad Ahmed — whose efforts made a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

On July 1st, 2025, the Faculty of Pharmacy proudly organized Faculty Focus Day, welcoming students to an engaging and interactive workshop hosted by the Department of Pharmaceutics.

During the session, prospective students had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of topical formulation and were guided step-by-step in preparing their own moisturizing cream. The hands-on experience sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among the students, who expressed great enjoyment and appreciation for the activity.

The British University in Egypt (BUE) had the honour of hosting the Pharmaceutical Studies Sector Committee from the Supreme Council of Universities, bringing together 35 Deans from public and private universities across Egypt on Tuesday, 17th June 2025. The meeting commenced with opening remarks delivered by Professor Tarek Abbas, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Health Cluster at BUE, who warmly welcomed the distinguished attendees.
On behalf of the university, Professor Mohamed Ismail, Senior Advisor to the President, conveyed greetings from Professor Mohamed Loutfi, President of BUE, and reaffirmed the university’s unwavering dedication to advancing higher education and scientific research in Egypt. The Dean, Professor Mohey Elmazar also extended a warm welcome to the committee members.
The committee extended its sincere appreciation to the British University in Egypt for its generous hospitality and well-organised hosting.
On behalf of the committee, Professor Abdel Nasser Singab, President of the Pharmaceutical Studies Committee, conveyed heartfelt thanks to the university and its leadership. As part of the event, a commemorative shield was presented to Professor Singab in recognition of his valuable contributions to the pharmaceutical education sector.

The Faculty of Pharmacy congratulates Associate Professor Eman Ramadan for her remarkable contributions to the National Genomic Research in Egypt, through The Egypt Genome project. As a distinguished member of the Egypt Genome Project, Associate Professor Eman has co-authored the first published study under the initiative, involving whole genome sequencing of patients with Steroid-Resistant Nephrotic Syndrome — a milestone that paves the way for precision medicine in Egypt.
The faculty also celebrates her contribution in Sports Genome Project results, during a high-profile national event in which the results were delivered to key government figures, including the Advisor to the President, the Deputy Prime Minister, and the Ministers of Youth and Sports and Higher Education. The event took place on May 25th, 2025.
