L’Institut français d'archéologie orientale du Caire fait partie du réseau des Écoles françaises à l'étranger. Placé sous la tutelle scientifique de l’Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, il est un établissement public à caractère scientifique, culturel et professionnel relevant du Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche. L'IFAO a pour vocation l’étude des cultures qui se sont succédé en Égypte depuis la préhistoire jusqu’à l’époque contemporaine.

Chers usagers de la bibliothèque,

A l'occasion de la fête de la Révolution de 1952, la salle de lecture sera fermée le jeudi 24 juillet 2025.

Nous vous rappelons que la bibliothèque de l'Ifao sera intégralement fermée pour l'été, y compris l'espace 24/7, à partir du jeudi 31 juillet 2025.
Nous rouvrirons nos portes le lundi 1er septembre 2025.

Papyrology in Dialogue
A Two-Day Joint Workshop for Egyptian Scholars and Slovenian Coptologists

The Institut français d’archéologie orientale (Ifao) is pleased to announce a two-day joint papyrology workshop organized in collaboration with the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. This event marks the official launch of the new Ifao Papyrology Seminar series, which will be held on a monthly basis beginning in September 2025. The Seminar is coordinated by Khaled Younes, Laura Aguer, and Ahmad Nakshara and is the first of its kind to dedicate sustained scholarly attention to papyrology in the three ancient languages—Greek, Coptic, and Arabic.

The event will be followed by a three-day hands-on workshop focused specifically on Coptic documentary papyrology, offering extended training opportunities for Egyptian and Slovenian participants specializing in this area.

Dans le cadre du soutien à la mobilité internationale, CNRS Sciences humaines & sociales et l’Institut français d’archéologie orientale (IFAO) proposent aux chercheur(e)s, enseignant(e)s-chercheur(e)s et ingénieur(e)s de recherche des unités de recherche dont le CNRS est tutelle ou cotutelle, une aide pour la réalisation d’actions de recherche en 2026.
L’aide accordée a pour objet le financement de missions comprises entre 3 et 9 mois durant l’année civile 2026. Elle concerne toutes les disciplines et tous les types de missions de recherche (collaboration internationale, travail de terrain, consultation de sources, montage de projet, rédaction d’ouvrage ou d’article en collaboration).

Nous vous prions de nous faire parvenir votre candidature par e-mail à : inshs.smi@cnrs.fr au plus t**d le 30 septembre 2025 (midi), en un seul fichierenregistré au format pdf sous l’intitulé : SMI_Nom du porteur_N° de section CNRS.pdf

Les candidatures seront expertisées conjointement par CNRS Sciences humaines & sociales et par l’Ifao sur la base de leur qualité et de leur intérêt scientifique. À la suite des arbitrages, les résultats seront envoyés par email aux candidat.e.s d’ici fin janvier 2026.

محاضرة شهر يوليو ٢٠٢٥ لسلسلة محاضرات ايجيبتولوجي بالعربي والتي تنظمها مبادرة «المكان والناس» بالتعاون مع المعهد الفرنسي للآثار الشرقية ويستضيفها لأول مرة المعهد الفرنسي بمصر بالأسكندرية وتقام بالتعاون مع مركز الدراسات السكندرية. المحاضرة تلقيها د. رانيا يونس مرزبان، أستاذ بقسم الإرشاد السياحى بكلية السياحة والفنادق بجامعة الإسكندرية وستكون بعنوان « بالنصوص والمناظر في المقابر الخاصة فى مصر القديمة ».

نبذة عن المحاضرة:
تعد المناظر المصورة في مقابر الأفراد من أكثر المصادر ثراءاً في التعبير عن الحياة في مصر القديمة. وقد تبدو المناظر وكأنها تتبع أسلوباً نمطياً في التصوير؛ إلا أن ما تحويه من عناصر وتفاصيل وشخصيات يختلف إلى حد كبير من مقبرة لأخرى. ولا يرتبط تفسير مضمون المناظر بما تحويه من عناصر مصورة فحسب، بل كذلك بما تحويه من نصوص اللغة المصرية القديمة. ولقد حرص المصرى القديم على أن تشمل المناظر كتابات يتضح في بعض الأحيان أنها أحاديث متبادلة. كما يتضح أحياناً من دراسة المناظر المصورة في المقابر الخاصة لمسات الفنانين وشخصياتهم. وعلى صعيد آخر فيبدو أن الأحاديث المتبادلة فى مناظر المقابر فى الورش والحقول كانت مستوحاة من الحياة اليومية في مصر القديمة. ومن ثم فإنه من خلال المحاضرة يتم تفسير أمثلة من تلك المناظر بما تعكسه من مضمون إجتماعي.

سيمنار حوار المدن - الجلسة الرابعة

Langue : arabe.

المدن هي الذاكرة الثقافية و الحضارية للشعوب وقلبها النابض بالحياة؛ فالعلاقة بين عمران كل مدينة وسكانها والبيئة التي نشأت بها تشكل حواراً وتناغماً تفردت به كل مدينة عن غيرها لتشكل المدن فيما بينها بدورها حواراً أخر متميزاً في حلقة حضارية متصلة؛ فساهمت العديد من العوامل في تميز كل مدينة عن الأخرى، ويمثل العامل الجغرافي والطبيعة الطبوغرافية والبيئة إضافة إلى الظواهر المناخية التي قد تختلف من موقع لأخر أبرز العوامل التي تأثرت بها المجموعات السكانية التي سكنت تلك المواقع وأسست بها مراكزها ومؤسستها التي تمثل منهجها الحضاري من مختلف الأوجه السياسية، والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية والدينية ...الخ، فعزز ذلك من تفرد وتميز كل مدينة عن الأخرى.

سيهتم سِمِنار "حوار المدن" من هذا المنطلق بإلقاء الضوء علي الدور التاريخي والحضاري للمدن من خلال أربع جلسات على مدار أربعة أشهر تبدأ من شهر إبريل ٢٠٢٥ لتنتهي في شهر يوليو ٢٠٢٥، ستدور مناقشات جلسات السِمِنار حول المدن ونقاط الالتقاء والاختلاف فيما بينها والطابع الذي يميز كل مدينة عن غيرها من خلال وجهات نظر متنوعة.

The fifth Research forum for young researchers - Riwaq Academy - was held last week at the Ifao on 18 and 19 June in cooperation with the Faculty of Archaeology at Ain Shams University.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Razek, Professor of Islamic Archaeology at the Faculty of Archeaology, Ain Shams University, and Pr. Dr Ahmed Al-Shoki, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archeaology for Postgraduate Studies and Research - Ain Shams University.
The conference discussed Ottoman studies, especially in the fields of architecture and arts

Le volume intitulé The Religious Other in Quranic Tafsīr aborde les représentations de l’altérité croyante dans le Coran et ses commentaires (tafsīr). Fruit des journées d’études de l’Idéo et de l’OIB, ce numéro adopte une approche interdisciplinaire combinant théologie, histoire, traductologie et philologie, ainsi qu’histoire de l’art. Parmi les contributions, on trouve des analyses novatrices sur les figures bibliques, sur les traductions modernes du Coran, et des perspectives sur les fondements théologiques des relations interreligieuses. L’ouvrage met en lumière les tensions entre pluralisme et affirmation de la supériorité de l’islam, tout en soulignant les influences contextuelles et comparatives dans l’exégèse coranique.
