My Story... or I would call it my journey
I am Mohamed Shehab, I work as a director of photography and my story or I would call it my journey started as a normal overweight person who adores food and simply wants to lose weight. I decided to visit a traditional diet doctor, but actually I never felt that I can do this; I always hated the one sized fit all colored paper that the doctor gives me every week and I felt demotivated and decided to do lose weight my own way. I started to read, research and hear from friends about different techniques for weight loss and even during my work, I photoshoot many programs that are nutrition and diet related. I decided to look them up and research to know what would fit me more. I read about the keto, intermittent fasting, dukan and different types of diets. From here, I started to be astonished and eager to know more about our bodies, how it reacts to different types of food, what does it need, what is good and what is bad for our body and health, the amount of calories each body needs and how is it calculated and how is differs from one to the other. I found myself overwhelmed and spending hours, days and months reading, understanding, researching and experimenting our human bodies. I was always wondering why is dieting or losing weight is so related to depression, but then I figured out it is because the one sized fit all mandates what we eat and when we eat it without catering for what we love and what we hate, what is our lifestyle, is it feasible to do this food or not? Also, the lack of the support, follow up, giving options and alternatives to always be able to stick to the nutrition plan was a crucial factor to be able to keep up with the healthy eating and ending up having it as a lifestyle rather than a mission that I can’t weight to get it done. I started to feel passionate about it and loving to talk about this topic in each and every gathering and also all the theories I came up with and the links I have put together started to work. My next obsession was with food types, the nutrient elements in food we eat, the amounts and quantities our body needs. I got a small scale and started doing my experiments, my equations and figuring what exactly my body needs and it worked. It worked like magic and i felt i now really understand my body, know everything about the food I eat and started to take control of my body, weight, health and lifestyle. At this point of time, I was sure that i have found my passion and that this is what i want to do for living. I studied, took several courses and became a certified nutrition coach, started to have clients first from family and friends and then the circle grew bigger and I was sure this is my passion that I will pursue.
