السير مجدي يعقوب أمير القلوب

«أعظم تكنولوجيا».. جملة وجيزة جاءت على لسان الدكتور مجدي يعقوب، واصفا بها ابتكاره الجديد الذي قد يغير مجرى علاج أمراض القلب بشكل جذري؛ لتشيد به الصحف العالمية متطرقة في مقالاتها إلى تفاصيل الابتكار، التي تتعلق بتطوير صمامات قلب «حية» تتكون من آلياف طبيعية تنمو بشكل طبيعي داخل جسم المريض، وهو ما يمثل إنجازًا علميًا كبيرًا في هذا المجال.

تفخر مصر ان من أبنائها البروفيسور و جراح القلب البارز مجدي حبيب يعقوب . من مواليد محافظة الشرقية الذي درس الطب في جامعة القاهرة، وتعلم في شيكاغو، ثم انتقل إلى بريطانيا في عام 1962 ليعمل في مستشفى الصدر بلندن، ثم أصبح أخصائي جراحات القلب والرئتين في مستشفى هارفيلد ، ومدير قسم الأبحاث العلمية والتعليم (منذ عام 1992). عُين أستاذًا في المعهد القومي للقلب والرئة في عام 1986، واهتم بتطوير تقنيات جراحات نقل القلب منذ عام 1967.

في القرار الجمهوري رقم 1 لعام 2011 تم التصديق من الرئيس السابق محمد حسنى مبارك يوم 6 يناير 2011 على منح الدكتور «مجدى حبيب يعقوب» وسام قلادة النيل العظمى لجهوده الوافرة والمخلصة في مجال جراحة القلب، وقد استلمها بنفسه في حفل خاص أقيم على شرفه

حصل على زمالة كلية الجراحين الملكية بـلندن، وحصل على ألقابٍ وأوسمةٍ من أكبر الجامعات حول العالم مثل: جامعة برونيل، وجامعة كارديف، وجامعة لوفبرا، وجامعة ميدلسكس (جامعات بريطانية)، وكذلك من جامعة لوند بـالسويد. وله كراس شرفية في جامعة لاهور بـباكستان، وجامعة سيينا بـإيطاليا.

ومنحته الملكة إليزابيث الثانية ملكة بريطانيا لقب فارس في عام 1992، ويُطلق عليه في الإعلام البريطاني لقب «ملك القلوب» كما حصل على وسام الاستحقاق البريطاني لسنة 2014

د. مجدي يعقوب هو نموذج للتفاني والتميز في العمل العلمي. إنجازاته تلهم الأجيال القادمة وتعزز التطور العلمي
