Join our workshop "Introduction to Bio-nanotechnology: Theoretical Basics and Hands-on experience"!.

The learning outcomes:
By the end of the workshop, each participant should be able to:
1- Understand the basics and applications of nanotechnology
2- Classify main characterization techniques and analyze the results
3- Define what is nano drug delivery and how to choose your model
4 -Discuss different case studies from previously published work skills
5- Synthesize chitosan nanoparticles by Ionic gelatin method
6- Synthesize selenium nanoparticles by reduction method
7- List and explain the basic tools of nanotechnology.
8- Design a simple experiment to address a scientific question.

📅 Date: 1-2 December 2025.

This third quarter was very rich in hashtag at MARC. We had multiple chances to expand research, services, and partnerships outside Egypt: from KSA and Iraq to the Netherlands, Japan, France, Canada, and the USA.
One great internationalization opportunity was signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Phagos (https://phagos.org/), a French company that aims to find and customize bacteriophages against pathogenic bacteria. MARC and Phagos will exchange expertise and information about phage-based therapeutic candidates for veterinary and human applications, and will collaborate on phage genomics and genomic-based AI predictions.
Dr. Adèle James, co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of the company, visited MARC on 7 September 2025, where she visited the labs, met with the team, and signed the MOU.

MARC received an amazing visit and workshop by a Japanese-Egyptian team who have formed an alliance to promote the use of the cryo electron microscopy technology (which was recognized by a Nobel prize in 2017) for protein structure determination. The team consisted of 9 Japanese scientists, led by Professor Yoshikazu Tanaka (from Tohoku University in Japan), and 3 Egyptian scientists from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, led by Dr. Noha M Elhosseiny. We were also happy to host students and scholars from Cairo University, Future University, Galala University, the German University in Cairo, Misr University for Science and Technology, Modern University of Technology and Information, and New Giza University.

The five-day workshop included various scientific activities: lectures, discussions, tutorials, hands-on laboratory training, and computational training on advanced structure analysis software. Other than sharing state-of-the-art science and technology, the Cryo-EM team and the participants shared many happy moments, including afternoon tours in Cairo and Giza.

The Japanese team visited MARC laboratories and clinical site, and highlighted the cleanliness of the labs and the internationally bench marked equipment
