Critical Appraisal Initiative for Research in Oncology (C.A.I.R.O) Journal Club Is an Egyptian Educational Entity that delivers oncological educational materials to oncologists in a diverse multidisciplinary manner. Our vision is uplifting the oncology practice in Egypt and the region through a long-term series of impactful events and activities that engage HCPs of various specialties, geographical residences, and experience levels.

Our History..

“Oncology Marathon” that originally started in Feb 2012,
was in the form of regular roundtable scientific workshops that focused on critically appraising recent trials and publications including:
methodology, assessment of internal and external validity, and application of evidence in the context of the regional situations. In Feb 2014, C.A.I.R.O Journal Club was established as a successor due to the unmarked success of the critical appraisal meetings and being quickly perceived as a credible source of education; evolving into large-scale robust monthly educational events with a multi-institutional and multidisciplinary orientation.

Call for Applications | CJC Editorial Fellowship 2026
The CAIRO Journal Club (CJC) is inviting applications for its Editorial Fellowship 2026, a one-year, part-time, fully remote opportunity starting March 1, 2026.
This fellowship is designed for early-career doctors and health or pharmaceutical sciences graduates with an interest in oncology, medical education, and academic publishing. Fellows will gain hands-on editorial experience, mentorship from senior faculty, and active involvement in CJC educational and scholarly activities.

Middle East & North Africa Precision Oncology Consortium - Molecular Tumor Borad is a new monthly virtual activity endorsed by CAIRO Journal Club with the aim of enriching precision oncology practice through Molecular specialized multidisciplinary teams—comprising oncologists, pathologists, geneticists, with their primary goal lies in translating complex Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data into actionable, personalized treatment plans for patients with rare or hard-to-treat cancers. By leveraging collective expertise to interpret heterogeneous biomarkers, MTBs significantly improve clinical outcomes and effectively match patients with targeted therapies.
