October Students' Scientific Society - OSSS

October Students' Scientific Society - OSSS OSSS is a non-profit, non-political medical student organisation, recognised by October 6 University,

Here at OSSS, we express our deep and profound interest to increase the level and quality of knowledge for medical students, within our facilities and beyond, to help them become better physicians and to improve the quality of medical education by extending it beyond classic lectures through extracurricular activities which include:

* Courses
* Conferences
* Workshops
* Clinical training sessions

OSSS, both locally and under IFMSA-Egypt as a full member, functions with the 6 main branching Standing Committees of IFMSA, which are:

* SCOPH (Standing Committee on Public Health)
* SCORA (Standing Committee on Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights incl. HIV & AIDS)
* SCOME (Standing Committee on Medical Education)
* SCORP (Standing Committee on Human Rights & Peace)
* SCOPE (Standing Committee on Professional Exchange)
* SCORE (Standing Committee on Research Exchange)

As part of IFMSA-Egypt, our goal is to offer future Egyptian physicians a comprehensive introduction to global health issues by taking part in the international medical students’ community to broaden their spectrum and reach their full potential. IFMSA-Egypt is a full member of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), which was founded in 1951 and is the world’s oldest and largest independent organization representing associations of medical students internationally. It currently maintains National Member Organizations from more than 130 countries across six continents with over 1.3 million students represented worldwide. IFMSA is recognized as a non-governmental organization within the United Nations’ system and the World Health Organization and as well, it works with the World Medical Association. Passing down of knowledge and experience from alumni and older medical students to newer ones is an aspect we heavily emphasise on in order to have a strong, well-oriented team of members who will be willing to work with the determation and passion needed to elevate the standards of OSSS as highly as possible. OSSS plans to play an active role in its community through awareness campaigns and properly informing patients about health services, as well as their rights to ensure that future physicians treat all their patients with care, honesty, equality, and respect, therefore improving doctor-patient relationships, and paving a way for future students to follow their aspirations, reach their goals, and most importantly, succeed in their careers as medical practitioners.

Progress requires a willingness to modify the plan without losing sight of the purpose. In any evolving field, rigidity is the greatest barrier to progress. Staying impactful means staying open to new methods, new data, and new perspectives.

Change is inevitable. Stress is optional.

As students and future professionals, we love a good plan. But what happens when the plan falls apart? True adaptability isn’t about pretending everything is fine, it’s about having the psychological tools to pivot without breaking.

Childhood belongs in schools, playgrounds, and dreams. not in work and exhaustion.

Child labor is not just a social issue; it deprives children of their most basic rights to education, safety, and a normal life.
Every child deserves the chance to live their childhood with dignity and have a better future.

Together, we can raise awareness and stand against child labor.

Behind every screen, a child deserves safety.Online child exploitation is a growing danger that can happen through social media, games, fake friendships, and digital platforms.

Together, we can build a safer digital world for every child.

Child sexual abuse is not just a crime — it is a lifelong trauma that steals safety, trust, and childhood.
Silence protects the abuser, while awareness and action protect children.

From the heavy silence of “I have HIV and I hate it” to the quiet strength of “I have HIV and this is my life.”
This short film follows Safya’s journey through the shadows of internalized stigma and social isolation. It’s a story about the moment everything changes—when we move from the darkness of “fighting alone” into the light of community and peer support.
Safya’s status is a part of her story, but it no longer defines her worth.

We present to you the work of two of our camp graduates, showing the impact of the seed we planted.

Thanks to everyone involved, keep up the impact!
