🌱 6 Tips for a Successful Farmers Market Visit This Summer! 🌽🍓

Enjoying the bounty of Wisconsin’s summer farmers markets can boost your nutrition and support your training goals. Here are six tips to make the most of your visit:

1. Plan Ahead & Make a List
Identify your nutritional needs and create a shopping list focused on seasonal produce, proteins, and healthy fats. This helps you stay on track and reduces impulse buys.

2. Focus on Whole, Local Foods
Choose fresh, minimally processed items like berries, greens, root vegetables, and local eggs or cheese. These foods provide essential nutrients to fuel your activity and recovery.

3. Incorporate a Rainbow of Colors
Select a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables. Different colors mean diverse phytochemicals and antioxidants that support your immune health and muscle recovery.

4. Engage with Vendors
Ask vendors about their harvesting practices, peak seasons, and storage tips. Building relationships can give you access to the freshest, most nutrient-dense foods.

5. Prioritize Protein & Healthy Fats
Include sources like eggs, fish, nuts, seeds, and avocados. These help repair tissues, keep you full longer, and stabilize blood sugar levels.

6. Be Mindful & Enjoy the Experience
Savor the process of choosing your foods, and listen to your body’s hunger and fullness cues. Remember, nourishing your body also means enjoying your food without guilt.

Happy farmers market shopping — nourish your body, support local farmers, and hit your training goals! 🌞🥗
