Food and cancer: what science says (and what is usually oversimplified)🧐

In recent years, several doctors trained at institutions such as Harvard have popularized the idea that certain foods can help reduce the risk of cancer.

Although the general approach is correct, the current scientific evidence shows a more complex reality: there are no “miracle foods”, but complete dietary patterns that influence risk.

New Alzheimer’s drugs under the microscope: promising advances, questioned benefits.🧐

For years, the most recent Alzheimer’s treatments have been touted as a potential turning point in the fight against this neurodegenerative disease.
However, a wide-ranging scientific review is calling into question the extent to which these drugs offer real improvements in patients’ lives.

Colorectal Cancer Evolves: New Strategies That Reduce the Need for Surgery 🧐

Colorectal cancer has become one of the main health problems in Spain. Far from what is usually thought, it is not breast or prostate cancer that is the most frequent, but this type of digestive tumor.

This high number of cases has driven a transformation in their treatment, which is no longer based exclusively on surgery, as was traditionally the case.🤓

One step closer to understanding the origin of cancer: the hidden role of “mobile” DNA🧐

Cancer research has entered a new phase in which not only point mutations in genes are studied, but also more complex mechanisms that affect the overall functioning of the genome. In this context, a recent study led by Spanish researchers has opened up a promising way to better understand the origin of some tumours.

These scientists have discovered that certain mobile fragments of DNA – genetic elements capable of moving within the genome – can play a key role in the appearance and evolution of cancer.

The detection of tumor DNA in blood: a paradigm shift in breast cancer🧐

Oncology is undergoing a silent but profound transformation: the possibility of detecting cancer relapses before they are even visible in traditional clinical trials. One of the most promising advances in this field is the analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), a tool that could anticipate the recurrence of breast cancer and radically change the way the disease is treated.

The genetics of the skin: how our genes determine its structure, aging, and pigmentation 🧐
The skin is the largest organ in the human body and one of the most genetically complex. Its appearance, regenerative capacity, resistance to sun damage, hydration, and rate of aging are influenced by multiple genes that regulate biological processes such as collagen production, pigmentation, antioxidant response, and inflammation.
