Choosing an accredited/ registered acupuncturist

This is important to me. Why?

I trained many years ago and have been an acupuncturist since my twenties. There was always one leading professional body, The British Acupuncture Council.(BAcC) Indeed, in all complementary therapies, there were lead regulatory professional bodies.

Currently, anyone can set up a professional body, in any therapy! And start a course in anything. there is no regulation. We need regulation in acupuncture and complementary health care in the UK.

The BAcC is the ONLY acupuncture organisation to be listed on the Accredited register of the professional standards authority for health and social care. A register backed by government upholding standards in health care.

Dr Tim Child a leading fertility expert and Professor at Oxford University says:

“ “I always advise my patients considering acupuncture to work with a practitioner listed on the British Acupuncture Council Register. This accreditation ensures the practitioner has undergone proper training and adheres to professional standards that prioritise safety and effectiveness. Unfortunately, anyone can call themselves an acupuncturist—even after just a weekend course—which makes it critical to seek out a qualified, accredited practitioner. Choosing someone from The British Acupuncture Council Register is the simplest way to ensure high-quality care that minimises risks and enhances potential benefits.”
