Body Control Pilates® - tai kūno ir proto pratimai, kurių tikslas yra jėgos, lankstumo, raumenų kontrolės, laikysenos ir kvėpavimo gerinimas. Atliekant Pilates pratimus dirba ne tik stambiosios raumenų grupės, bet ir gilieji, vidiniai raumenys, kurie mažai aktyvūs kitų pratimų metu. Kiekvienas pratimas atliekamas susikoncentravus, neįsitempus, tolygiai, kontroliuojant savo judesius ir giliai kvėpuojant. Nėra pavojaus pasitempti raumenis ar raiščius, nes judesiai yra lėti, plastiški. Stiprinami gilieji stuburą stabilizuojantys raumenys, treniruojami silpnieji, ištempiami sutrumpėję raumenys. Pilates pratimai stiprina pilvo, nugaros raumenis, ypač jų giliuosius sluoksnius bei dubens dugno raumenis. Todėl dažnai Pilates rekomenduojama esant nugaros skausmams, raumenų disbalansui, gerinant laikyseną. It is of an holistic nature, being based upon a well-constructed philosophical foundation. Central to the Method is ‘awareness of your own body’ and each and every exercise is built around its eight basic principles: RELAXATION CONCENTRATION CO-ORDINATION CENTRING ALIGNMENT BREATHING STAMINA FLOWING MOVEMENTS. The Body Control Pilates Method can work for everyone, regardless of fitness level! Exercises can be mat or machine-based, but mat-work exercises have a great attraction in that they need no special equipment, and are particularly safe for those with back problems.
