World Immunization Week | Prevention is the First Line of Respiratory Care
Vaccination remains one of the most effective tools in preventing severe respiratory infections in children — from pneumonia to influenza and RSV-related complications.

Yet, access and uptake remain uneven globally.

At INSPiRED 2026, prevention and infection management are explored through the topic of The Changing Landscape of Pneumonia.

The plenary session from Susanna Esposito (Italy), Building Trust with Vaccine-Hesitant Parents will explore evidence-based communication strategies to address hesitancy, strengthen parental confidence, and support informed decision-making in pediatric care.

These discussions reflect a broader goal — strengthening confidence, improving access, and advancing evidence-based prevention strategies.

Because protecting children starts before disease begins.

Two months from now, the conversations will be live, the lecture halls will be full, and the global pediatric respiratory community will gather in Bologna.

But what makes INSPiRED different is not only what happens on stage. It is the exchange between colleagues, the practical learning, the difficult questions, the fresh perspectives, and the shared commitment to improving respiratory health for children everywhere.

In just 2 months, INSPiRED 2026 will bring together clinicians, researchers, educators, and innovators for four days shaped by science, collaboration, and purpose.

Bologna is getting closer. So is the opportunity to be part of something meaningful.

In pediatric respiratory medicine, better decisions often begin with better imaging.

The Imaging of the Pediatric Chest pre-congress course at INSPiRED 2026 is designed to strengthen diagnostic confidence across the full spectrum of pediatric chest imaging — from fundamentals to advanced interpretation.

The course includes sessions on Pediatric Chest X-Ray Interpretation: The Basics, How to See What You Want to See with Chest CT, Fetal and Neonatal Chest Imaging, Airway Imaging, Imaging of Congenital Lung Malformations, Lung MRI: The Future is Now, and Real Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Led by expert faculty, this is a practical learning opportunity for clinicians looking to refine interpretation skills, deepen radiology–pulmonology understanding, and bring sharper insight back to everyday pediatric respiratory care.

🗓 Pre-Congress Course | 25 June 2026 ⚠️ Separate registration and payment required

Earth Day | The Environment We Breathe In Shapes the Lungs We Grow With
Air pollution and environmental exposures are no longer distant concerns — they are daily realities shaping pediatric respiratory health.

Children are particularly vulnerable, with early-life exposures linked to asthma, impaired lung development, and long-term chronic respiratory disease.

At INSPiRED 2026, this critical intersection is addressed through the session of Childhood Respiratory Health in a Changing Environment: Evidence and Action with discussions such as:

• Early-Life Environmental Exposures and Chronic Lung Disease Risk - Andrew Bush (UK)
• Air Quality and Acute Respiratory Risk in Infants - Daniele Zama (Italy)
• Environmental Effects of Gas Flaring - Iso Oloyede (Nigeria)
• Va**ng, To***co, and Ni****ne Dependence in Youth: Understanding the Hidden Epidemic and Implementing Effective Prevention Strategies - Stefania La Grutta (Italy)

These sessions go beyond awareness — focusing on how evidence can inform prevention, policy, and clinical care.

Because protecting the environment is ultimately about protecting the lungs of the next generation.

Topic Highlight | The Changing Landscape of Pneumonia

Pneumonia remains a leading cause of illness and mortality in children worldwide — but the way we understand and manage it is rapidly evolving.

At INSPiRED 2026, The Changing Landscape of Pneumonia brings together global experts to explore the next generation of care — from AI-assisted diagnostics and advanced imaging to biomarkers guiding antibiotic use and evolving prevention strategies .

• Climate Change and Thunderstorm Asthma in Children: Challenges and Responses - Kunling Shen (China)
• AI-Assisted Diagnosis in Pneumonia: CXR, Lung Ultrasound and More - Bruno Hochhegger (USA/Brazil)
• Biomarkers for Diagnosing Pneumonia and Guiding Antibiotic Use - Quique Bassat (Spain)
• RSV Prophylaxis in Countries without a Clear Seasonal Pattern - Anne Goh (Singapore)

These are the conversations redefining how we diagnose, treat, and ultimately reduce the burden of pneumonia in children.

Because improving pneumonia care means improving outcomes — globally.

🌍 World Health Day | 7 April

Health begins with the ability to breathe — and for millions of children worldwide, that is not yet guaranteed.

Lower respiratory infections remain one of the leading causes of death in children under 5, accounting for over 700,000 deaths annually globally (UNICEF / WHO). At the same time, chronic respiratory conditions, environmental exposures, and unequal access to care continue to shape lifelong lung health.

World Health Day is a reminder that improving child health starts early — with prevention, early diagnosis, and equitable access to quality respiratory care.

At INSPiRED 2026, this mission comes to life through global collaboration, scientific exchange, and a shared commitment to advancing pediatric respiratory health.

Because every child deserves the chance to breathe freely — from the very beginning.
