The Science of OM

Chanting OM is more than a spiritual practice—it has measurable effects on both the mind and body. Modern research shows that this simple sound can positively influence brain activity, nervous system function, and emotional balance.
• Brainwaves: Studies using EEG reveal that chanting OM increases alpha and theta waves, which are linked to calmness, focus, and meditative states. Your brain literally shifts into a more peaceful, centered mode.
• Vagus nerve activation: The vibration of the “mmm” sound gently stimulates the vagus nerve, helping reduce stress, slow the heart rate, and promote relaxation.
• Heart rate and breathing: OM chanting naturally slows breathing and lowers heart rate, activating the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s “rest and digest” mode.
• Emotional balance and self-awareness: fMRI scans show that OM chanting can deactivate the amygdala, the brain’s fear center, while stimulating areas linked to emotional regulation, self-awareness, and inner calm.

Es con alegría en el corazón 💚 y profundo agradecimiento que el miércoles que viene nos reuniremos para compartir nuevamente la práctica de meditación. Cada curso es un recordatorio de que el verdadero aprendizaje ocurre en el silencio y la presencia, y que cada instante es una oportunidad para conocernos y expandir el amor.

Ya hace una década que enseño en este espacio mágico, un lugar donde se da un intercambio magnífico de sabiduría. Cada encuentro es un recordatorio de que el aprendizaje fluye en ambas direcciones: lo que comparto se nutre de nuestra conexión, y lo que recibo de los queridos alumnos es profundamente enriquecedor. Es un verdadero placer acompañaros en cada momento compartido, que se convierte en una oportunidad de crecimiento interior y de conexión profunda.

Gracias al por sostener este espacio de cuidado y aprendizaje. Cada curso, cada encuentro, es un pequeño milagro compartido.

Each inhale and exhale was an invitation to awaken to the now.

We were honored to flow with Kendra after the yoga class ,whose gentle voice guided us to move freely—feet rooted in the Earth, hearts open, expressing the subtle language of our bodies and reflecting deeply with a handle cart.

Kindness matters, because it is the purest expression of our awakened heart.

Kindness is the language of the awakened heart. It does not seek reward or recognition. It simply flows. In every small gesture, an attentive ear, a warm smile, a helping hand, kindness becomes a bridge between souls and a quiet reminder that we are all connected.

When we act with genuine compassion, we release judgment and expectation. We meet others not as problems to solve but as fellow travelers on the journey of life. In this space, even the simplest acts, holding a door, sharing a kind word, or listening deeply, carry the power to heal, uplift, and transform.

True kindness begins within. By cultivating patience, understanding, and gentle presence in ourselves, we allow that energy to ripple outward and touch everyone we encounter. It is in this exchange that the heart awakens, not just for ourselves but for the world.

Like the sun warming every leaf without asking, let your heart open to the joy of others.
Their happiness does not take from you; it is a wave that touches all.
Breathe. Receive their joy as your own, without grasping, without comparing.
All beings deserve light — let yours shine quietly in harmony.

Micro Zen Joy Practice (under 1 minute):
1. Take one slow, deep breath and feel your body relax.
2. Think of someone’s happiness, no matter how small.
3. Silently repeat: “Their joy is my joy.”
4. Exhale slowly, imagining their happiness spreading gently into your heart.
5. Smile softly, even just a little — let the warmth linger.

Remember: Joy grows when it is shared. Every small act of happiness for others creates ripples of light in the world. 🌿💛
