That's the legend behind Sant Jordi, Catalonia's most magical day. Every April 23rd (also World Book Day 📚), the streets come alive with roses and books. Couples, friends, and families exchange both — because here, love has always gone hand in hand with stories. ❤️

💬 "Are there situations where you would recommend waiting before performing filum terminale sectioning?"
While this is not an emergency procedure, timing still matters. Most patients present with a progressive clinical picture — meaning symptoms can worsen over time — so in general, the sooner the better.

That said, there are situations where waiting is the right call: pregnancy, the period around childbirth, or health conditions that may interfere with anaesthesia. In those cases, we plan together for the right moment.

Filum terminale sectioning is a minimally invasive procedure — a small incision, and one that can be performed at any stage of life. What Dr. Salca explains that it’s not your age, but your health. Your biological condition and overall wellbeing are what count.

💬 "Can a remote appointment be as helpful as an in-person one?"

Absolutely. Once your case has been reviewed, we can arrange an online consultation so your assigned neurosurgeon can walk you through your results, answer your questions, and explain next steps — from the comfort of your home.

That said, an in-person visit will always be necessary to confirm a diagnosis and move forward with treatment. Think of the remote appointment as the important first conversation that sets everything in motion.

Absolutely — and you don't need to travel to get started.

Many of our patients come to us from across the world, and the process begins well before they arrive. Our Patient Care Team will coordinate directly between you and your surgeon, walking you through sending everything needed for a remote assessment:

📝 A detailed summary of your symptoms

🗂️ Your medical background and history

🧠 Your neuroimaging studies

Our surgeon will review everything remotely, and once that initial assessment is complete, we'll work together to plan your in-person visit.
