Advanced webinar for DAO Institute Members

Today, Dr. Miguel Mayo, MD, PhD, will lead an advanced clinical webinar titled:
“Respiratory symptoms related to DAO Deficiency.”

Dr. Mayo is part of the Otolaryngology Department, University Hospital Complex of A Coruña and San Rafael Hospital, A Coruña.

He is a Specialist in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, with a strong vocation for teaching, collaborating with the University of Santiago de Compostela and the University of A Coruña. His clinical expertise includes sleep surgery, endocrine surgery, minimally invasive and scarless surgery, rhinology and statistics, and he is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in high-impact Q1 journals.

While DAO Deficiency is often associated with digestive or neurological manifestations, respiratory symptoms remain under-recognised in clinical practice. Understanding their relationship with histamine metabolism is key to improving diagnostic orientation and patient management.

During this session, participants will:

🌿 Low-histamine & Carminative plants: supporting digestion during the holiday season

Digestive discomfort such as bloating, gas, or post-meal heaviness is common during periods of richer and more abundant meals, such as the Christmas holidays 🎄

Carminative plants have been traditionally used to support digestion, mainly due to their content of essential oils and bioactive compounds that act on gastrointestinal function.

Scientific literature suggests that certain carminative plants may help to:
✔️ Relax intestinal smooth muscle
✔️ Facilitate gas expulsion
