Spent ages trying to film B Roll of me sitting in the woods.
Which i’n told is the thing to do. .kat.river 😘

First attempt realised i only filmed my back.

2nd attempt just got my feet.

3rd time lucky. Ha. Forgot to turn the camera around (apparently back camera much better than front) and filmed a piece of dirt. 😂

So I gave up and just spun myself around. What a dick.
Enjoy!

Stay tuned for more tips on how to really rock social media.

It’s such a new way of doing things these days and I’m really trying to shift from using this as a diary of things I do, to this new way of storytelling my brand, batch content etc. its not easy but watch this space.

Have a great Friday,

Happy Sunday and also International Women’s Day to you all 💜

I was reminded last week when I was planning the next set of Las Divinas circles, with a wonderful group of women, some I knew, some just met, what the original intention for behind hosting women’s circles was for me.

For me they are to find a space where women can come together to strengthen friendships, find deep connection and support, joy and laughter, without competition in an environment of loving, healthy and healed sisterhood. For me as a women from the UK living in Spain without much family, it was something I deeply craved and I am grateful for finding it with many of you. The photos are a selection of circles and events with so many dear friends where I have found it. From mama circles, closing of the bones, seasonal events, Bloom mother daughter, ceremonies I’ve held, nights out with friends and so much more. Grateful for them all.

So today, I want to celebrate you all and invite you all to lean in.

Lean in to community, even when it feels hard or uncomfortable

Lean in to deep connection with others to enrich your life, lean into support that we all deserve as women and often don’t ask for,

Lean into pleasure, laughter and joy. The world needs this matriarchal strength now more than ever. (I don’t think I have to explain that to anyone) and together we are stronger.

Celebrating women each and every one of you for being here. Thank you 🙏💜💫

Feeling so very proud of Bloom today, the ‘Mother Daughter: Becoming a Woman’ project I’m part of, it’s a big day for us🌸

- The Bloom song was released on !! Medicine singer wrote it, on last year’s retreat and sung it round the campfire. It features some of the girls (and my Ruby) on backing vocals- proud mum!! Gives me chills to listen to as it captures the feelings I hold dear in my mama heart for the transition of my Ruby blooming into a woman, sadness and pride all rolled into one. Link in stories to listen.

- Our new website is live!! Bloommotherdaughter.com
Proud of my hard work on this one and the amplification of all we are now doing,

- June retreat almost sold out! Sam has worked tirelessly on this and it is all credit to her we’re at this stage in February.

- The next Maiden series event Blooming Abundance shaping up well. Our community of amazing women and girls is active, alive and committed we’re grateful for them all.

- Our Bloom Online programme is almost finished! It will launch this year, bringing the Bloom transformational experience to you wherever you are in the world.

- We have own Instagram filled with beautiful images and words of the new (old and remembered) of the world we aspire to create. A new way for our daughters.

Bloom is growing and testament to how small businesses can move forward with time and consistent effort.

My sister founders and .g and I, have worked HARD to get to this point. It’s not been easy, so I really want to take the time to celebrate us 💕

Sam, my love, thank you for all you do, even under the most challenging of circumstances. You inspire me with your creativity, knowledge and vision, and you build and hold community like no one else. Thanks for being you.

Marina, you sexy Brazilian goddess, thank you for the love and light energy you bring. Your training and depth as a psychologist is invaluable in supporting mothers and daughters, and your sacred sexuality facilitation has evolved Bloom in the way it needed to as our girls mature.

I am so proud of us all, and so proud of this work. I love you both🌸

6. Signs of spring too
7. Strong nutrition and feeling good from it. Levelling glucose spikes with hacks by gifted by Emma.
8. Got my hair cut short. Felt the need for change and loving it.
9. Valentine’s Day, started strong with lots of love with family: ended up with a disastrous night in BCN when we missed the play we had tickets for. Ups and downs much like life.
10. Teacher training for Menopause for Yoga with Niamh Daly a highlight of this month. Learnt SO much. Deserves its own post. Will come soon.
11. Ruby my daughter just looking so grown up.
12. More teacher training with Niamh. Stretched me as was every Friday evening and Sunday all month and took time away from family life but have a feeling it’s going to shape a LOT of things going forward. Grateful to Nick for holding the slack.
12. Looking at secondary schools with Jake. Too soon! Finding it hard to find. The system does not seem to fit what I would like for my children to thrive.
13. Lots of clarity in my work- finally. Completed the Bloom website and Beth proud of myself. More of that time to come.
14. Health focus continues. Striving for optimal health for yr whole family. Dentist visits and chiropractor adjustments. Thank you
15. With so much else going on, not enough quality time for Nick and I and so not enough connection. Need to focus on this this month.

The biggest lesson taking my kids skiing taught me.
Part 3 //

It reminded me I need to give them more credit.

To give them more opportunities to show them what they’re capable of. Yes of course, love them, protect them, provide a safe haven and home for them, and all their big emotions and feelings. But let them fly too.

Confidence, resilience, and courage.

I am focussing on these qualities in my kids.

I reiterate, I know skiing is a huge privilege. But I’m going to look to create the same opportunities in the day to day. When we’re on a bike ride, pushing their bike up the hill one more time when their legs are tired. Show up to basketball every single week, even when they’d rather stay home. Try, fail, and try again in the small everyday moments, and celebrate the failing as a learning opportunity.

I recognize it’s different for every child. I know neurodivergence, economic privilege, race, culture, gender or binary definition and physical ability, play a huge part in what’s appropriate or available for each individual.

But I’ve been thinking a lot at the moment about how their world will differ from ours, who the hell really knows?? We don’t know how AI will reshape work, what jobs will exist, or what challenges they’ll face.

To me, the schooling system feels outdated (and no shade on teachers—they’re doing their best). We’re still teaching kids to regurgitate information that AI will tell us in minutes.

I feel, confidence, resilience, and courage will soon matter more than ever. So will creative problem solving, emotional intelligence, and the ability to connect with others. These are the skills with value. So they know they can trust themselves when things get hard. Call in back up, find solutions.

Realizing more than ever, we do not know what’s coming, but we can aim to give our kids the foundations to handle it. And that starts in the everyday ordinary. And believing in them. That they can.

Biggest Lessons that taking my kids skiing taught me?
Part 2. Cont from previous post.

So, seeing my daughter hold her own physically and emotionally in a group of adults was pretty special.

Returning to collect the boys at lunchtime after just 3 hours of skiing. I was amazed at how they were going. Falling over yes, but laughing getting up and carrying on. Doing it

We paused for lunch together as a family (monumentally expensive) and we were back for the afternoon session. Alfie was a little reluctant to go. Jake was fine. So I stayed with Alf and said we’d just watch. After a while he said actually he did want to go. The teacher let me stay on the nursery skopes. Skiing with my boys (final video) down those sweet little slopes, after just one day off skiing… my heart was blown. Incredible. Made me so so happy. And impressed.

We skied for two more days, each time everything getting a little smoother and easier logistically, the kids growing in confidence and ability. Going to classes in the morning and free skiing as a family in the afternoon.

I will never forget the memory of getting on a chairlift with Nick and ruby, to look to the side to see my 6-year old bombing down the hill, no poles and turning a sharp corner to get on the chairlift (something I’d never seen him go on), get on without the help of anyone, go up the slopes on the lift, then get off by himself (I’d waited to watch him) and skiing off to join his group. Mind blown, again.

Ruby flourished, speaking up for herself in the adult group, approaching every challenge even a white out on the mountain, with such confidence. Jake was such a cool cat, took to it steadily and calmly, parallel turning by day 2, so impressive. Alf knew no fear, we called him the red bullet as he only wanted to go straight and fast! All good on the nursery slopes but a bit hairy up the mountain - but that’s a story for another day!

The biggest takeaway from the whole experience was the reminder of just how capable, resilient and courageous our kids can be. I’m all for gentle parenting but sometimes I feel we also need to lead, and to ask them to do things that aren’t easy. Cont post 3

Just how bloody capable they are.

But first a caveat, please know, I’m FULLY aware what a MASSIVE privilege it is. It’s been out of our reach for many years as it really is very expensive, especially as a family of five.

But this year for a number of reasons, mainly due to some financial changes, we felt the time was right.

We went for my birthday and stayed in a friends’s family place in El Tarter, Andorra. We drove from our house, borrowed clothes from our community and had a good friend dog and house sit. So grateful 🙏

It was truly magical. It snowed every day. The drive up there was extraordinary, witnessing the mountains change as we got higher. Seeing “so much snow” as we entered Andorra. The squeals of delight from my kids esp Alfie at the sight of it all. The landing in the cute stone cottage community, with fir trees laden with snow. Another world.

But let me tell you skiing is work. Esp with kids. It began with getting our forfaits (ski passes) and hiring our equipment (boots, skis, poles, helmets). Normally we help our kids with stuff, carry their gear etc etc. But when you’ve got your own kit to carry and it’s snowy they have to do it alone. And they did.

The next morning getting us all up, a big protein breakfast eaten, a dinner in the slow cooker for later, all organized in thermals, ski wear, gloves etc. walking in ski boots, carrying same gear, onto the gondola and up the mountain for lessons for 10am — is no mean feat. They all had to help. And they did.

We dropped the boys off in school ski. Luckily the ages worked out as they take from 6-11, so they could be together. We’d asked for English class but there was only beginners in the Castellano group so they went into that one. Leaving them in a bit of a whirlwind to head to our own class. A bit overwhelming but they did it.

Ruby, Nick and I in a class of adults. We were late and the first thing we had to do was ski down a hill to be assessed on our levels in front of everyone. Not skied in 8 years, Nick only done a few days before: Intense first moments. But we did it. No falls. Grouped together. So proud, esp of Ruby holding her own…cont in next post.

Holding. Closing. Friendship and Love ❤️

As the year cycles towards an end, as we approach the centre of the spiral and the darkest point in the Northern Hemisphere at the Winter Solstice, themes of release, making space for what is new, closing and ending seem to be everywhere.

The most perfect moment for Closing the Bones Ceremony for a powerhouse of a woman Nikki to seal her postpartum chapter with her daughter Amara Sage. Just over a year ago after we held her Mother Blessing, with Amara in her belly, at the same location , making it a special full circle moment.

The love that I have for this woman is indescribable, unknowingly she seems to have entered my heart in the most charming and beguiling way. I’ve spent time with her regularly at my Mama and baby sessions, watching them grow, unravel and reform again, with the greatest grace and compassion for themselves and other women around them. Being in Nikki’s company is like stepping into light, and when you have my friendship you never lose it, so I know ours is here to stay.

A Closing the Bones ceremony is one of my favorites to do as it honours the messy, the challenging, the sacred liminal space of postpartum, usually overlooked and unseen in our society. The one that tests us, breaks us and reforges us into a new version of ourselves from the sacred chaos.

Best known as from coming from South America it is a cultural rite of passage that has roots in many cultures. Showing us that the physiological and psychological needs of a woman are similar wherever they are from.

It allows a mother to release whatever needs closure, while honouring the work mothers do—growing, birthing, sacrificing, and reminds us of their value as the caretakers of future generations.

Rebozos (thick woven cloths) are wrapped tightly around the body, closing the physical bones, calling energy back in. Bringing a mother back into body, back to herself.

It can be done months or years after birth and can actually be used to symbolically close any life chapter—relationships, jobs, menopause.

Thank you Nikki and all the other women who co-created this together, it was an honour ❤️
