WEDNESDAY 15TH APRIL - LA RUTA DE OCHO PUEBLOS ( LA VALL DE GALLINERA ) - MODERATE
The Route of the 8 Towns (Route of 8 Pobles), is a linear excursion of 16 kilometers in length that runs through the 8 towns of the Vall de Gallinera, a beautiful valley between mountains in the interior of the region of Marina Alta, north of the province of Alicante. It is known, among other things, for the cherry trees that populate the slopes of its mountains, offering the spectacle of flowering during the month of March.
The route, which begins in the Font de la Mata de Benirrama and ends at the Font de la Mata de Benissili, is signposted at all times and links the 8 villages of the valley: Benirrama, Benialí, Benissivà, Benitaia, La Carrotja, Alpatró, Llombay and Benissili.
This pleasant walk runs along old agricultural roads between farmhouses and fields, mostly from cherry trees, and the unevenness to overcome is quite mild (except for some occasional stretch), so it is recommended to any hiker who has a minimal habit of walking on the mountain.
The full eight villages walk is a linear walk of about 16 Kms requiring cars at both ends.
We will be doing a " panhandle " style walk of 12 Kms that cover five of these villages and with ascent of 250 metres overall.
We will start and end in the small village of Benirrama and park somewhere along the " Carrer Major"
Benirrama is just off the CV-700 coming from the town of Pego - the turnoff ( CV-7170) is 9.5 Kms from leaving Pego
