Dear patients and friends, some information that we are giving over the year of different topics. Today is about visceral (tummy) pain and its relation to the musculoskeletal system.
How can musculoskeletal pain be triggered by an affectation of the visceral system?
There does not have to be a structural alteration in the viscera for such pain to appear, but there are various circumstances that can cause its alteration.
1. Loss of mobility after surgeries or infections, creating adhesions. Loss of mobility of an organ due to poor sliding with the surrounding structures (eg scar)
2. A scar can present deep adhesions, which can cause spasms (due to permanent tension), circulatory problems and excess tissue (fibrosis).
3. Visceral spasms: As a result of irritation, the muscle fibers present permanent tension, which causes a decrease in digestive flow.
4. Blockage of the Diaphragm.
5. Circulatory injury.
6. Alteration of the parasympathetic neurovegetative system: there is a decrease in digestive juices and a contraction of the musculature of the digestive system.
7. Psychological affectation (an emotion, feeling, stress...)
For this reason, the importance of a global treatment and not only focusing on the pain structure, in order to guarantee therapeutic success and the prompt recovery of the patient.
