She is internationally trained, and can treat most health problems, like a family doctor. Dr Femke offers a unique combination of a professional approach combined with a lot of personal medical attention. She speaks Dutch, English, German, Spanish, and Greek (basic).

Here’s a cool food fact (literally 😏): when you freeze bread and then toast it, its glycemic index (GI) actually goes down.
👉 The glycemic index tells us how quickly a food makes your blood sugar rise.
👉 Lower GI = slower sugar release = more stable energy (and fewer crashes!).
👉 This can help with energy balance, cravings, and even long-term health.
So yes… freezing your bread doesn’t just fight food waste, it also makes it a little kinder to your blood sugar.

👟 10,000 steps a day – myth or magic?

We’ve all heard it: “You should walk 10,000 steps a day!” 

But… where does that number actually come from?

Fun fact: it wasn’t a medical guideline at all. It started in Japan in the 1960s as part of a marketing campaign for a pedometer called “Manpo-kei” (literally “10,000 steps meter”). 

The number stuck — and suddenly the whole world was counting!

So, is it true? 
Walking more is absolutely good for your health:
* Boosts your mood 🧠
* Lowers risk of heart disease ❤️
* Improves sleep 😴
* Helps with weight control ⚖️

But the magic isn’t exactly at 10,000. Research shows 7,000–8,000 steps a day already bring big health benefits. More is fine, but don’t stress if you don’t hit 10k every day — consistency matters more than perfection.
So lace up those sneakers, park a little further away, take the stairs… every step counts!

We had the best time traveling with the camper through Spain, France & Holland with my girls (and yes, I caught some beautiful waves 🏄‍♀️, together with my girls: amazing feeling!). Batteries recharged and ready to go!

🌞 Out of Office & On the Road!
I’m officially on holiday! I’ll be travelling through Europe in the camper van with my girls — sunshine, nature, and adventure await. Time to recharge, slow down, and make memories. 💛

We’ve all been there—one more scroll, one more episode, and suddenly it’s midnight. 
But did you know that the blue light from your phone or TV is telling your brain it’s still daytime?

This sneaky light blocks melatonin (your body’s natural sleep hormone) and makes it harder to drift off and stay asleep. Over time, it can throw your whole sleep rhythm out of sync—and yes, it matters even more during perimenopause and menopause when sleep can already be tricky.

Try these simple swaps to sleep like a king or a queen:
✨ Turn on night mode or use blue light filters
✨ Switch to warm, cozy lighting in the evening
✨ Give screens a break 1–2 hours before bed
✨ Soak up natural light in the morning to reset your rhythm
