The oscillometric method involves the use of special electronic devices. With their help, you can measure blood pressure yourself at home. The principle of operation of such devices is to fix the pulse, which fluctuates on the segment of the artery passing under the cuffs. The oscillometric method is necessary for constant pressure monitoring for people suffering from hypertension.
The Korotkov method. This measurement method was introduced by surgeon Korotkov back in 1905. To carry out measurements, a mechanical device was constructed – a cuff with a small pear and a pressure gauge. Complete with a stethoscope, he was nicknamed the tonometer. Today it is still used in medicine. The mechanical tonometer is easy to use. With the help of the cuff, the brachial artery is squeezed (there is a pumping of the pear), and the stethoscope helps to listen to the tones (beats) that occur when the air is released from the cuff.
