How to Treat and Recover from Lower Back Muscle Injuries

Lower back pain is a common issue that often stems from injuries to muscles such as the Erector Spinae, Multifidus, or hip muscles like the Gluteus and Iliopsoas. These muscles play a crucial role in supporting the spine and enabling hip movement. When they are strained or overworked, discomfort or pain in the lower back may occur.

Initial Treatment
1. Rest the Muscles ➡️ Avoid activities that could worsen the pain.
2. Cold and Heat Therapy⬇️
- Apply cold compresses within the first 48 hours to reduce inflammation.
- Switch to heat compresses afterward to relax tense muscles.

Massage for Relief
Gentle massage can help alleviate muscle tension. Use your hands or a soft rubber ball to lightly press on the affected muscles. Avoid excessive pressure to prevent further injury to the tissues.

Rehabilitation Exercises
1. Stretching the Lower Back and Hip Muscles
- Try the Knee-to-Chest Stretch to improve flexibility.
2. Strengthening Core Muscles
- Practice Plank or Bird Dog exercises to enhance the stability of the supporting muscles.

Additional Recommendations

If symptoms persist or the pain worsens, consult a doctor or physical therapist for specialized advice and appropriate treatment.
