Fear as a Companion ❤
Upcoming week in our group practice we’ll explore fear: not as something to fix or avoid, but as something we live with.
Fear of the body aging.
Fear of losing clarity or focus.
Fear for the climate and the world.
Fear that arises in uncertainty, injustice, or change.
Fear can protect us and fear can hurt us. It fuels imagination and prediction about the future or about ourselves.
But how do we meet fear without rushing past it?
Instead of pushing it away, we’ll practice gazing upon fear in a steady way, with courage, and with love.
Not just tolerating it, but allowing it to be seen and understood.
If someone we loved felt afraid, we wouldn’t tell them to “relax.” We’d offer gentleness and reassurance.
Fear asks for the same : space, safety, and patience.
Courage does not appear in spite of fear…it appears through fear. To be courageous is to allow fear in, not to banish it.
Join us next week (monday at Ananda Mandira Gong ) as we soften around fear through movement, breath, and attention on the mat.
All levels and fears welcome.
