Dear friends, here we share our favourite TOP 3 art exhibitions on Ibiza in case you're looking for cool plans during your visit:
1. CAN ART FAIR (25-28 June) The 5th edition of the CAN Art Fair Ibiza (Contemporary Art Now) is held at the FECOEV fairgrounds in Ibiza Town. The event showcases cutting-edge international contemporary art, including painting and sculpture from both emerging and established artists, blending artistic innovation with the island's unique, relaxed atmosphere.
2. PUIG DES MOLINS NECROPOLIS MUSEUM (open all year) Puig des Molins was the cemetery of the city of Ibiza during Ancient times. It is located 500m south of Puig de Vila, where the city has been located since its foundation in the 7th century BC. Its permanent exhibition is an immersion in the site’s history through a set of pieces carefully selected from the archaeological collection. Visiting the five exhibition rooms, either before or after doing the necropolis tour, takes you back in time so you can learn about the societies that populated the island of Ibiza in ancient times.
3. MACE (open all year) Ibiza’s Contemporary Art Museum was inaugurated by Ibiza’s City Hall in 1969, thanks to the First Biennial of Ibiza that had taken place in 1964. It is, therefore, one of the most ancient contemporary art museums in Spain. It has always been located within the Hall of Arms and a Prova warehouse, one of the most emblematic buildings in Ibiza’s old town, Dalt Vila. This building, designed by Simón Poulet in 1727, has endured a five-year large reform process due to the archaeological remains found in the area. The MACE keeps within its collections, always committed to the avant-garde, backgrounds of different sources, amongst which we can highlight the pieces of art awarded during the Biennial and Ibizagráfic, and the engraving collection donated by gallery owner Carl van der Voort.
Ibiza is much more than just beaches... We hope you enjoy this art selection as much as we do 🌹
