🌿 More Continuing Education! 🌿
As an Equine Osteopath, I work every day with horses whose bodies are asking for deeper support—and one area I’ve seen time and again as crucial to their overall health is nutrition.
That’s why I’m beyond excited to be diving into an advanced Holistic Nutrition course with Elisha Edwards Horse Health. This course has already blown me away. Elisha brings so much knowledge and clarity, and I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible impact her work has had on many of my clients.
Nutrition truly feels like the missing link in so many cases. Without addressing it, we’re often just scratching the surface of what’s possible in terms of healing and optimal health.
There’s still a big gap in understanding around how horses really need to eat to thrive—and I’m passionate about being part of the change. This course is deepening my knowledge and will absolutely become a bigger part of what I offer through KCEW this year.
Stay tuned—there’s more to come. ✨
🌀 What’s the difference between Nutrition and Holistic Nutrition?
It’s a great question—and one that often comes up!
👉 Nutrition typically focuses on the basic nutrients a horse needs to survive—protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals—often in the context of feed labels or NRC guidelines. It’s more about meeting minimum requirements.
👉 Holistic Nutrition, on the other hand, looks at the whole horse—body, mind, and environment. It goes beyond just the numbers and takes into account:
🌿The horse’s lifestyle, age, workload, and metabolic health
🌿Gut health, stress levels, and emotional well-being
🌿The quality of nutrients, herbs, whole foods, and how they’re absorbed
🌿Seasonal shifts, forage diversity, and feeding practices that reflect the horse’s natural instincts
🌿Underlying imbalances or chronic conditions that may need nutritional support
🌿It’s a more individualized, root-cause approach that asks why a horse may be showing certain symptoms, and how nutrition can support healing—not just survival, but true thriving.
That’s what excites me most—integrating this deeper understanding into my osteopathic work to better support the whole horse. 🐎✨
