It has been known for clients to cry during Myofascial Release sessions with me. Not because they're painful but because as the tissue releases so too can trapped emotions.
We hold a lot of emotions in because we're not shown how to express them properly. In fact we're more likely to have been told not to cry, not to shout, not to scream because it's not the done thing to do when really we should have been told that it's good to show emotions because when you don't let them out they get trapped and cause issues later on.
A baby instinctively knows how to release emotions which is why they can be crying one minute and laughing the next.
When I do Myofascial Release work anywhere but particularly around the shoulder area and the hips, you may feel tears bubble up and hopefully out.
Crying is good and shows that those trapped emotions are coming out so don't be afraid to let them flow, I always have a big box of tissues available 😁.
