🟢 SEASONAL YIN 🍀 WOOD & SPRING 🌴 FROG

🍀 THE WOOD ELEMENT. In Chinese Medicine spring is the season of the Wood Element.

☘️ THE ORGANS for the Wood are liver & gallbladder. They do the cleansing of the body.

🌵 THE WOOD ELEMENT
▫️ Season: Spring
▫️ Element: Wood
▫️ Taste: Sour
▫️ Meridians & Organs: Liver and gallbladder
▫️ Emotion: Anger - Irritation - Frustration -> Kindness - Compassion - Planning

🌿 THE MERIDIANS of liver run on the inner legs, and gallbladder on the side of the body. These are the target area of the asanas for the Wood.

🌳 FROG
▫️TIME: 2-3 minutes
▫️MERIDIAN: liver, gallbladder, spleen
▫️TARGET: groins, hips, inner & outer legs, lower back
▫️BENEFITS: Stimulates the liver meridian, improves hip mobility, stretches legs, opens the back
▫️PROPS: blanket, block, bolster
▫️VARIATIONS: Half Frog, Whole Frog

🍀 HOW: Start from child's pose and slide both hands forward, separating the knees but remaining sitting on the heels.
You may move their hips forward to avoid painful compression. For a whole Frog, separate feet as wide as the knees.
You may also do half frog with one leg. Don’t go deeper to advance in this posture but stay longer.
Relax the torso, shoulders, head, neck and the arms. Use probs if needed.
If there are any discomfort in the lower back, stay in a child's pose.
Stay few minutes with mindful breath.
Come out of the posture slowly and have a short rebound.

🌱 USE OF PROPS: a blanket under the knees. You can support your torso on a bolster or on a block.

🌿 SEASONAL YIN. With Seasonal Yin & living & diet we can harmonize ourselves with spring.

🍀 Spring & the Wood Element & Diet
PART 4 FOUR

Spring is time for the Wood Element, growth, renewal and expansion.
It is the season of fresh, green diet.

🧩 LIVER IN TCM. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Wood Element is associated with the liver and gallbladder organs. The liver governs the smooth flow of Qi-energy, blood, digestion and detoxification.

🧩 WOOD & DIET. The taste for the Wood Element is sour. In spring we want to support liver health with special diet by consuming sour, green and fresh foods. It promotes smooth energy flow.
Also, avoiding alcohol, sugars and fatty and processed foods helps the liver to cleanse.

✅️ TIPS FOR WOOD DIET
- Sour tastes, limon, lime, grapefruit, fermented foods, apple cider vinegar
- Green foods, leafy vegetables, kale, spinach, chard, arugula, steamed broccoli
- Eat raw and fresh or light steaming
- Bitter foods, such as chicory, dandelion greens, artichokes
- Hydration, drink plenty of water to help flush toxins.

☘️ FOOD TO AVOID. Try to avoid alcohol and caffeine, fatty & processed foods, and refined sugars. Those can disrupt the liver's functions and stuck the free flow of Qi-energy.

✳️ LIFESTYLE & DIET
- Eat mindfully, sit down and enjoy meals to aid digestion.
- Regularity, eat small, frequent meals rather than large, heavy ones.
- Seasonality, align with the natural energy of growth and renewal.

These sour and green foods help cleanse the liver and promote smooth energy flow.
If you feel tense or irritable, adding these foods in moderation can support also emotional balance.

🍀 HOW: Sit legs straight and opened on the floor rooted on both sitting bones. Straighten the spine and fold forward, supporting the upper body with the arms, then round the spine.
Relax the upper back, shoulders, neck and the arms. Use probs if needed.
If there are any discomfort in the lower back, stay in a more upright pose.
Stay few minutes with mindful breath.
Come out of the posture slowly and have a short rebound.

🌱 USE OF PROPS: a blanket or a pillow under the pelvis. You can support your forehead on a bolster or on a block.

PART 3 THREE

Spring is time for the Wood Element, growth, renewal and expansion.
It is the season of fresh starts, creativity, and vision.

🧩 LIVER IN TCM. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Wood Element is associated with the liver and gallbladder organs. The liver governs the smooth flow of Qi-energy, blood, digestion and detoxification.

🧩 WOOD & ANGER. The Wood Element is associated with anger. Anger can manifest as an intense anger, resentment, frustration, irritation, bitterness, rigidity, resentment, explosiveness or suppressed rage.

✳️ What happens when the liver Qi becomes stagnant and the Liver Yang is rising?
How do you recognize when the Wood Element is unbalanced?

🌵 SIGNS OF ANGER. Signs and symptoms of liver imbalance or stagnation are both physical and emotional.

✅️ Anger in the body & life:
- Tight neck & shoulders
- Emotional imbalance
- Headaches or migraines
- Digestive tension
- Feeling stuck or indecisive
- Sudden outbursts or suppressed emotion

☘️ TAKE CARE OF ANGER. Remember, anger is not an enemy, it’s a sign of need to set healthy boundaries, a response to injustice, or fear. Learn to work and deal with strong emotions, before they become destructive.

✳️ FEW TIPS:
- Express feelings safely
- Practice compassion & forgiveness
- Move your body & breathe
- Spend time in nature
- Practice letting go of control and ego

Anger is a useful emotion because it provides the vital energy for growth and planning.
It can be transformed into constructive passion, vision, motivation, and inspiration.

🍀 Spring & the Wood Element & Liver // PART 2 TWO

Spring is time for the Wood Element, growth, renewal, and expansion.
It is the season of fresh starts, creativity, and vision.

The energy within us begins to move upward and outward, inviting us to cleanse, activate, and nourish ourselves deeply.

🧩 LIVER IN TCM. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Wood Element is associated with the liver and gallbladder organs.

🧩 The liver governs the smooth flow of Qi-energy, blood, digestion, detoxification, and emotional regulation - especially anger and frustration.

🧩 Healthy eyes, strong nails, and flexible tendons are dependent on the quality of your Liver Qi.

🟢 But what happens when the liver Qi becomes stagnant, sluggish, and the Liver Yang is rising? How do you recognize when the Wood Element is unbalanced?

✅️ Signs and symptoms of liver imbalance / stagnation

Physical Symptoms: Tension in shoulders/neck, PMS, headaches, digestive issues, dizziness, eye problems.

Emotions: Intense anger, resentment, frustration, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed.

Behavioral Signs: Excessive, rigid, pushy behaviour or lack of ambition.

✅️ Signs of balanced Wood Element & liver

Physical Vitality: Smooth flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body, lack of pain or tension, particularly in the neck and shoulders, flexible tendons, menstrual health, healthy eyes.

Emotional Balance: Ability to manage stress, feeling inspired, motivated, and decisive.

Vision and Planning: Clear mental outlook, strong planning ability

Flexibility: Adaptability to change

🌳 SQUARE
▫️TIME: 3 minutes
▫️MERIDIAN: liver, gallbladder, spleen
▫️TARGET: glutes, groins, hips, inner & outer thighs, lower back
▫️BENEFITS: Stimulates the liver meridian, improves hip mobility, stretches thighs, opens the back
▫️PROPS: blanket, pillow, block, bolster
▫️VARIATIONS: Untied square - both tibias on the ground, Side square

🍀 HOW: Sit cross legged on the floor. Shift legs forward horizontally to the same level. Lift the right leg over the left, place the foot over the left knee and the left foot under the right knee. The hips are externally rotated and the legs form a triangle.
Sit rooted on both sitting bones. Straighten the spine and fold forward, supporting the upper body with the arms, then round the spine.
Relax the upper back, shoulders, neck and the arms. Use probs if needed.
If there are any problems and discomfort in the lower back or knees, stay in a more upright pose.
You can place the upper tibia in the front of the other, in a loose or untied pose, or open the legs wider.
Stay few minutes with mindful breath.
Come out of the posture slowly and have a short rebound.
