The journey of our takes hours to produce one batch. It starts with lots and lots of fresh ginger and tamarind and combined with all the good spices.

We are lucky if it lasts a week in our house...we love it on eggs, as a cultural fusion twist on traditional Spanish and as an accompaniment to just about any dish.

What would you try it on?

The unexpected, yet very entertaining, 'lost in translation' moments of living in Spain. This is a refrigerator full of dog food at the dog groomers...pretty sure it's made of higher quality ingredients than it is advertising!! 😆

I am back. My BIG WHEEL and I ready to charge ahead into new adventures in Spain!!
Hand break? What hand break?!?

Life moving to a new country has its challenges indeed. But, the amazing moments, learning experiences and adventures have FAR outweighed everything else.

While new things in life can be super scary and feel overwhelming at times, I've learned that it's important to stay tuned in to who you truly are at your core. Alignment with myself has been the foundation that has supported me through every situation - good and not so good.

Whatever your dream is, no matter how far off or unreachable it may seem to you, GO FOR IT!!!!! Even it it's in baby steps...one small change at a time that moves you towards your dream. GO FOR IT!!

The only thing you have to lose is the regret you may have if you don't.

❤️

Biggest takeaway from our recent outing to El Rastro Market in Madrid is...GO EARLY!!!!!

We got caught in the MOST crowded metro and street situation as we didn't not venture there until the final hour of the market. It is extremely popular with tourists and locals alike, but next time we will go prior to the opening of the market to (hopefully) avoid the crowds and get to enjoy the whole experience without being worried our children would get lost in the crush.

A bit of history and, more importantly, the reason we will be making a second attempt to visit El Rastro...

El Rastro Market is one of the most famous street markets in Madrid, Spain, and has a history that dates back to the 15th century. The market is located in the La Latina neighborhood, specifically in the Ribera de Curtidores street, and it takes place every Sunday and public holiday throughout the year, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Throughout the years, El Rastro has evolved into a diverse and vibrant market, where locals and tourists alike can find all sorts of products, including antiques, furniture, clothing, crafts, jewelry, books, and more. The market is also known for its street performers, who add to the festive atmosphere.

El Rastro has a strong cultural significance in Madrid, and it is a place where people from all walks of life come together to socialize, bargain, and enjoy the unique experience of this historical market. In fact, it is estimated that more than 100,000 people visit El Rastro every Sunday.

CHURROS!! We never, ever knew just how delicious this very famous Spanish treat is. The the churros are always made fresh, served hot, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and the chocolate is creamy and not sweet at all.

What's your favorite treat you've ever had in your travels near or far?

Believing and achieving the life of your dreams is not an easy feat, but it is possible. It starts with a dream, a vision of what you want your life to be like. From there, it takes commitment, hard work, and a belief in yourself that you can make it happen.

Hey friends!

Just a little reminder to always believe in yourself and to allow yourself the opportunity to grow and change. Your future self is eagerly waiting for you to follow your dreams and make them a reality.

Don't let doubt or fear hold you back from pursuing your passions. Take that first step, and keep pushing forward. Your future self will thank you for it!

There have been several pivotal moments in our lives where this saying could not ring more true. Most recently it was the leap of faith to leave behind everything our children had ever known, sell our home of over 20 years, sell our car and all of our furniture, pack 11 suitcases, say goodbye to family and friends and leave with our family of four and our dog for a brand-new country.

There were so many moments of fear and uncertainty for us throughout this journey, but by taking that leap of faith, we opened ourselves up to new opportunities and experiences.

What we are learning and what we want to share with you is a reminder that we grow the most when we step outside of our comfort zones.

Wherever you are in your journey towards adventure and travel, remember take a deep breath and make the jump towards your dreams. You never know what amazing things could be waiting on the other side.

Of course, taking a leap can be scary...really scary. But it's important to remember that we grow the most when we step outside of our comfort zones. So if you're feeling stuck or unsure, take a deep breath, connect with your higher self and take that inspired leap. You never know what amazing things could be waiting on the other side.

Hey everyone! Today, I want to talk about the importance of supporting local markets no matter where in the world you live.

Before we left Minnesota for Madrid, we ran our own local food business selling our unique Vadouvan d'or Spice (blend of Indian/French flavors made by us in MN) along with our grain-free crackers and coffee cake donuts that served people who could not eat gluten, sugar or grains.

The photos here are of our last day selling at the before leaving for Spain. We are ever so grateful for the AMAZING customers we got to know over the seasons and wanted to share our thoughts on supporting local growers, farmers and makers - wherever you are!

Local markets play a crucial role in promoting economic growth, providing employment opportunities, and preserving cultural traditions.

By choosing to buy from local markets, you are not only supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, but also promoting sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices. Plus, the unique products and flavors you'll find in local markets are unlike anything you'll find in large chain stores or supermarkets.

So whether you're living in a bustling city or a rural town, take the time to explore your local markets and see what they have to offer. By doing so, you'll not only be investing in your own community, but also contributing to the global effort to promote fair trade and ethical business practices.
