Un honor haber impartido hoy una conferencia en el Hospital Universitario Clínico San Carlos (Madrid), sobre los cinco pilares del desarrollo profesional.
Quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento al Dr. Fernando Marco, jefe del Servicio de Cirugia Ortopédica y Traumatología por la amable invitación y por la magnífica acogida. Gracias al Dr Pablo Checa por ayudarme a la coordinación de la sesión.

This week we participated in the Congress of the Swiss Society for Surgery of the Hand (SGH/SSCM) in Lugano 🇨🇭. An excellent pre-congress session on CMC1 osteoarthritis directed by Daniel Herren and .alexlluch. We continued with an amazing session on wrist arthroscopy updates with Maurizio Calcagni, , and . It was an honor to participate in the event.

50th edition of Basic-Advanced-Master Course. An honor to participate again as faculty.

TFCC injuries are frequently associated with displaced distal radius fractures and can easily be missed on initial assessment. When left untreated, they often lead to pain, DRUJ instability, and suboptimal functional recovery.

During wrist arthroscopy, the inside-out technique allows an anatomic and stable repair:

🔹 Arthroscopic evaluation through the 3–4 portal
🔹 Suture passage from 3-4 portal inside the joint to outside using an inside-out spinal needle device and Fiberwire 2/0 suture .
🔹 Dorsal mini-incision (6U portal) to retrieve the sutures safely
🔹 Extracapsular knot tying, reducing intra-articular irritation
🔹 Restoration of TFCC tension and improvement of DRUJ stability

Arthroscopy in distal radius fractures helps us diagnose and repair hidden TFCC lesions that truly change the final outcome.

He tenido el privilegio de dirigir y coordinar este programa junto con el Dr. Vicente Carratalá, en una edición realizada de manera conjunta entre los equipos de Madrid e .

In some intra-articular distal radius fractures with a small volar fragment that cannot be directly fixed with the plate, a transosseous suture can be used as an additional method of stabilization (fig 1).
The technique involves passing a
transosseous suture around one of the distal screws of the volar plate (fig. 2).
The screw then acts as an anchor point, helping to reduce and maintain the volar fragment in its anatomical position without the need for additional screws or plate modification (fig 3-5).

Provides stable fixation.
Avoids distal screw protrusion.
Useful for small ligament insertion bone
fragments.

A simple and effective trick to enhance fixation in complex distal radius fractures treated with volar plate.
