CAN YOU WORK AS A DOCTOR IN SPAIN WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE RESIDENCY PATHWAY?

YES, HOWEVER...

1. The first step is to get your medical degree RECOGNIZED( Homologación) 📃🗂️

2. The second step is to be registred at the medical council of the province where you are planning to work 👩🏾‍⚕️🧑🏾‍⚕️

WHERE CAN YOU WORK?

It is IMPORTANT to know that choosing this pathway will ONLY allow you to work in the PRIVATE SECTOR, therefore it should be a temporary option.

To be able to work in the government medical system, the ONLY WAY is to go through MIR( Spanish residency program) or having a specialization recognized here.

WHERE CAN YOU WORK?

- In elderly residences 👵👴
- In private hospitals 🏥
- In ambulances 🚑
- In psychometric test companies
- In non-governmental organizations 🏠
- In hospital blood banks 🩸💉
- Summer jobs: Aquatic parks, summer camps or events, sport events, etc. 🏊‍🏊‍🤽‍♀️🤽🏕️🎼🎻

My study routine of 14 months 📚📝:

My preparation period is quite long and I do believe that a good study plan should be flexible according to one's needs and months of preparation. I try to have 8 hours ⏱️ of study per day, although sometimes I fail to do so.

My typical week:

1. I learn from Dr Najeeb videos: I am a visual person and I enjoy learning through videos. Dr Najeeb 👨🏻‍🏫 is the best teacher of the entire planet 😁😄 Well, according to me. I always start my morning with his videos

2. I watch videos 💻 from the platform of the MIR preparation academy I have enrolled in(Academia AMIR)

3. I study from the academy books 📖📝📚 Most of the time I ONLY pick topics of videos I have previously watched that week

4. I attend the weekly live class 👩🏾‍💻 of the academy which is about subjects I have previously studied that same week. I follow the academy schedule ( It looks like a revision for me and I am able to understand more concepts). We do not have face to face classes for the moment due to Covid 🦠but I do enjoy those classes

5. I do Qbank questions of the learned subject 📝 from the academy platform

6. During the week, I try to do one exam of 30 MCQs from prepmir application. I enjoy doing them because there is a ranking 📊 for everyone who take those weekly exams and this gives me some motivation especially if my weekly ranking is not as good as I want it to be.

7. Every saturday I do one exam of 185 MCQs 📈from the academy known as SIMULACRO( Some of the questions are from past exam papers and some are very similar to the MIR exam format)

8. The following week, I dedicate some free time ⏱️ to check the correction of the simulacro I did the previous week. This is extremely important(Around 50 corrections per day)

9. In addition, for some difficult topics, I tend to watch short Osmosis or Armando Hasudungan videos few hours before going to bed 🌙

10. My next step will be to get a study partner and to have about 2-3 hours of weekly studies together. I would like to experience new ways of learning 👫🏽👭🏽

I learn, I revise, I forget, I revise again until I master the concept: I think it is the KEY 🧠

As it is important to join a preparation course for the Spanish Medical Residency entrance examination( MIR) at least 6 months before the exam, here are some important points to follow to apply for a Spanish student visa ✍🏾📚

HOWEVER, some people choose to take these classes online, which is a great option as well 🖥️

Coming from a non-Spanish speaking country, I chose to join the course in Spain because I think that it is an amazing opportunity for me to get to improve Spanish, get used to the culture and the country ✈️

Dele is one of the official Spanish language examination organised by instituto Cervantes. The level required is a C1 for the initiation of degree recognition process and admission to the Medical Residency Examination(MIR)

It is possible to get to that level in less than a year. I personally reach this level in 7 months without attending a language school. I had at least 5 hours of study daily.

Here are the methods of my preparation:

1. I studied with books called 'Español en marcha' 📕📗📘📝

2. I had at least 3 language exchanges daily with native speakers♀️♂️👩👱
YOU CAN FIND SOME LANGUAGE EXCHANGE PARTNERS ON WWW.CONVERSATIONEXCHANGE.COM

3. I only watched series, movies and news that were in Spanish 🖥💻

4. I listened to plenty of podcasts on ivoox.com 🎙

5. I read newspapers in 🇪🇸 (El país, el mundo)

6. I collected different examination book models to guide me throughout the preparation 📚

7. I got a teacher to proofread my work 3 months before the exam as I needed help for the written part of the examination 👨🏽‍🏫

GUESS WHAT!!! 💃💃💃 I PASSED THE LANGUAGE TEST. I GOT MY C1 CERTIFICATE. I am planning to make a video for more details
