In the history of medicine, the fact of malaria treating syphilis is known. Indeed, malaria can kill syphilis through fever: the temperature rises high enough to kill the bacteria that causes syphilis. This discovery was made by Dr. Julius Wagner-Jauregg, for which he received the Nobel Prize for "breakthrough" in 1927. But over time, scientists realized that saving a patient from one disease, only to be finished off by another, is not exactly an achievement.
