72% of yoga practicioners in the US are women ♀️ Yet traditionally, yoga (at least the asana - posture - practice) has been reserved for men ♂️

Indra Devi - the first woman to study under T. Krishnamacharya in 1930s - was initially rejected by him because she was a woman AND a westerner.

I was very happy to have an eclectic group of both male & female students when I was teaching in Spain.

Yet now back in the US, my classes are predominantly women.

Why is that? 🤔
