Do Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro cause hair loss?
This is a very common question in consultation.
The reality is that, to date,
there is no evidence that these medications directly cause hair loss.
However, some patients do notice increased shedding during treatment.
In most cases, this is due to:
• Rapid weight loss
• Nutritional changes
• Telogen effluvium
• Pre-existing androgenetic alopecia becoming more noticeable
In other words, indirect factors — not the medication itself.
📌 Most importantly:
Do not stop treatment without medical advice.
Identify the underlying cause of the hair loss.
In many cases, it is temporary and reversible.
Each patient requires an individualized evaluation.
If this applies to you, we can assess it in consultation.
