European Federation of Periodontology EFP leads the global conversation on periodontology, brings together 45 national scientific societies.

Bringing together 43 national scientific societies of periodontology from six continents, with around 18,000 periodontists and oral health professionals, the EFP (European Federation of Periodontology) is the force behind the following initiatives:
- EuroPerio, triennial world leading congress on periodontology and dental implants;
- Gum Health Day, major global awareness initiative to raise visibility of gum health and gum disease;
- Journal of Clinical Periodontology, leading scientific magazine among periodontists and periodontal researchers;
- JCP Digest, concise perio publication for clinicians and students, available in 8 languages;
- Perio Insight, publication for the periodontal community on emerging scientific issues;
- Perio Master Clinic, hands-on conference aiming to improve practical periodontal skills of practitioners;
- Perio Workshop, annual meeting of the top-level periodontal scientists from around the world;
- Campaigns Perio & Family Doctors, Perio & Cardio, Perio & Diabetes, Perio & Caries, Oral Health & Pregnancy, and others aiming to increase scientific knowledge and dissemination of gum health and related diseases and conditions.

Rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis: a two-way inflammatory link.
New research shows that RA can drive subgingival dysbiosis, increasing susceptibility to periodontal inflammation, while periodontitis can in turn exacerbate systemic inflammatory activity. Intensive non-surgical periodontal therapy helped restore host–microbial balance and reduced systemic markers within months, reinforcing the importance of periodontal care in patients with RA.

The EFP is holding a joint working group meeting with the European Association of Dental Public Health - EADPH and supported by Oral-B titled “Oral health and systemic health outcomes: a call for interdisciplinary action” to address the growing burden of oral disease and the mounting evidence linking oral health to systemic health outcomes.

Bringing together experts in periodontology, dental public health, epidemiology, and prevention, as well as medical professionals, including cardiologists, diabetologists, and general practitioners representing the World Heart Federation and World Organization of Family Doctors - WONCA, the meeting focuses on developing a shared, evidence-based framework to support closer interdisciplinary collaboration.
