The “Elbow to Elbow” surgical discussion in Basel, Switzerland, was a remarkable meeting that united expert elbow surgeons from 16 countries to address the challenges and advancements in elbow surgery in 2025.

It served as a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing experiences, and fostering international collaboration among leaders in the field.

It is a privilege to announce that the 5th Annual Meeting of the Romanian Shoulder and Elbow Society will be held at the Alpin K2 Conference Center, Poiana Brașov, Romania, from 2–4 October 2026.

This edition will mark a significant milestone as the first meeting to be held under the patronage of the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SECEC). The scientific programme will include live surgery sessions, re-live surgery case discussions (or “surgery case discussions based on recorded procedures” if that is what you meant), cadaveric skills laboratories, and specialised courses, fostering high-level academic exchange and advanced practical training.

We warmly invite colleagues from Romania and abroad to submit their scientific abstracts for presentation. Submissions should reflect original research, clinical innovation, or educational value in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery, contributing to the ongoing development of our speciality.

This meeting will provide an unparalleled opportunity to engage with a distinguished professional community, exchange expertise, and promote excellence in upper limb surgery.

It was an honour to host the 4th Annual Meeting of the Romanian Shoulder and Elbow Society at the Sheraton Hotel Bucharest on 3–4 October 2025.

The scientific programme was enriched by six cadaveric laboratory sessions in which participants undertook advanced upper limb procedures, including proximal humerus fixation with a PHILOS plate, rotator cuff repair, open dynamic anterior stabilisation, open Bankart repair, open biceps tenodesis, and an intra-articular injection technique course. These practical sessions provided valuable opportunities for skill refinement and evidence-based discussion.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” for granting access to the anatomy laboratory and dissection rooms, as well as to the distinguished international faculty whose expertise and commitment were instrumental to the success of this event.
