Every year, I offer a six-week online "yoga and meditation" program in the summer. I love these moments of intense practice, these intimate moments with oneself, shared with other practitioners around the world, via a screen.
Some hate it (and I understand them because they already work on a computer all day), but others are willing to play along.
The screen (the guide) is an excuse to get back on your mat. A "motivator." The real work is at home, within yourself. Besides, the practice is simple, so simple that the second week already reveals something else... that's when you begin to get intimate with yourself, your thoughts, your limitations, your inhibitions... some mornings I don't even want to show myself, but I'm there. I persevere and I always come out happier, stronger.
Every morning is a new morning. The practice is the same, but who am I this morning? Meeting every morning for 6 weeks (40 days) is no small feat. It's almost a marathon. Have you ever traveled with someone for 6 weeks? Or done an activity during that time? Together or alone (with a short video), whether at the beach, in the mountains, or at home in the city, we come together and go through the challenges together: getting up early, exercising, the cold shower, the tense body, the slowing mind, we work the willpower, we observe every thought and celebrate every silence, every awareness.
I call this transpersonal therapy (a branch of psychology from the 1970s born from the encounter between Maslow and Grof, and which integrates the mystical side of being).
Why? Because the awarenesses are real and numerous in the depths of this morning silence. And the work continues throughout the day... the movements, the breathing, meticulously orchestrated, stir and "unstuck" the emotions, thoughts, conclusions stored within us.
I never come out the same. It's my annual journey through the wilderness. I can't wait 🔥
