In a similar vein to the quote I posted a little while ago that struck a chord with people.

I'm not saying these skills aren't important. Some of the most valuable work I did in GCSE English was reading and interpreting news articles to look for persuasive language, bias and so on.
But bloody hell, let's not undervalue the option of just picking up a book and reading it recreationally.
