Esta patología es lo suficiente compleja como para merecer una especialidad aparte: se denomina Otoneurología. Esta especialidad está justificada tanto por la d
ificultad de su estudio clínico, como por la necesidad de unas técnicas de exploración instrumental propias (las pruebas vestibulares) y completamente diferentes a las realizadas por el resto de las especialidades. Y finalmente, porque los tratamientos también se alejan de los habituales en el resto de las especialidades, combinando tratamientos médicos de varios tipos, tratamientos rehabilitadores y tratamientos quirúrgicos. Por ello, hemos formado esta Unidad altamente especializada. Para atender adecuadamente a nuestros pacientes, disponiendo del tiempo suficiente para atenderlos y los medios adecuados para completar los diagnósticos y tratamientos.

Balance disorders are very frustrating diseases, both for patients and physicians. Patients use to go from one doctor to another one, to different specialists asking for an answer to their problem. These diseases are complicated enough to deserve a different speciality: Neurotology. It is justified because patients need a very hard and lengthy clinical testing; instrumental testing (vestibular testing) involves several techniques quiet different from the ones used in another specialities; because our diagnosis may involve another medical specialities too. And finally, because our treatments are not the most frequent in another specialities. Neurotology may combine several medical treatments with rehabilitation techniques and surgery.
