In the therapy I facilitate, one of the most common and revealing sensations is tingling — especially in the hands and feet. When it appears, it usually marks the moment 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘀𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.
These sensations can feel like: tingling, “tiny points,” "small pricks", vibration, or gentle warmth. But they don’t always appear at the start of the session. Sometimes, the nervous system is so collapsed that the person feels nothing at all.
After a gentle internal repair, and having previously given permission to test it, the person begins to notice sensations of tingling, vibration, warmth, among others, and starts to feel more relaxed and more present in their body.
But not all tingling sensations are the same. Outside of a therapeutic context, they may be related to:
• high blood sugar levels
• vitamin B12 deficiency
• circulatory problems or nerve compressions
• or other medical causes
In these cases, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional.
Tingling sensations in therapy are normally felt as: 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚, 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙛, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙭𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣; 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨; and 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡-𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮.
On the other hand, when tingling has a clinical origin, it may present as persistent discomfort accompanied by other physical symptoms such as fatigue, blurred vision, weakness, among others.
