I have been feeling excessively tired over the last couple of weeks. The Schumann Resonance is high and we are in our busy season for our Airbnb apartment rental and we have temperatures in excess of 35 degrees here in Spain. Many of my clients are away and Yoga Class bookings are low.

A few people commented recently, asking if the studio was open during August, that’s a sign right there that I could be taking a break, so why am I pushing through the fatigue and ignoring myself and the messaging through people?

The previous version of me before I did shadow work, served others before considering my own needs. I was never good at taking breaks and giving myself space to rest. Do you recognise this behavior in yourself?

I gently tell you that it comes from a vulnerable place of being needed or needing to be seen in order to feel worthy, to be loved. External validation. Now I have healed myself, I no longer need to behave this way, I love myself, yet……..old habits die hard, and I recognise this is another loop I have been caught in, a repeated behavior that no longer serves me.

These days I am not afraid to switch things up when I have gone off track and I have created a lifestyle for myself that allows me to have flexibility, so at short notice I am taking a break from Monday 18th to 31st August.

During my summer break there is much for you to explore over on Substack, from practical exercises of Guided Journaling, Meditation, Breathwork or reading my Vulnerability Shares. Get familiar with them, read or practice again, become a master, repetition of practice will reward you.

Are you able to listen to yourself, to give yourself the space you need or are you in a habit of pushing through, caught in loops of people pleasing? Is it time for you to make that change and break free of your outdated habits? Start your journey towards created your dream life for yourself.

I will be back in September, fresh and raring to go. I have so much planned for you here. I can’t wait to share it with you.

Update from me including a pledge for support.

You may have noticed that I am not posting as often on social media as I once did. That is because I have been focusing on my Substack project. Lately I have been recording audios of already published articles on my Substack page.

To be inclusive, it was important to me to include audios to help people with dyslexia to gain access to important resources. It is something close to my heart as I have some dyslexic tendances and two of my close family members are dyslexic along with a few of my friends.

People that struggle to read or do not have the time to sit and read can now listen to each new article on the go from the Substack app.

Learning to be vulnerable, and why it is important for us to find collective healing
My Journey to Sharing my Vulnerabilities

This week I am excited to announce that my Substack project has moved to PHASE 2!

I am now offering an audio of the new article, read by the author, me, Caroline Wright.

This is a really great feature that Substack offers, helping posts to be inclusive for dyslexic people who struggle to read.

It is also great if you don’t have time to sit and read, you can listen to the article on the go. Over the coming weeks I will be adding audio’s to all of the articles already posted.

I have learnt you can find Self-Mastery in everyday moments. Here is one example of a moment when I sat up and listened, then changed.

A number of years ago, I listened to a podcast with Brene Brown. She had completed an extensive research paper on human vulnerability and subsequently wrote a book about it, along with a TED Talk which can be found on YouTube. The biggest takeaway for me listening to the podcast at that time was her statement:

“All I know is that my life is better when I assume that people are doing their best. It keeps me out of judgment and lets me focus on what is, and not what should or could be.”
Brené Brown

That hit me hard. It caused me to sit up and take note. I allowed the statement to be game changer in my life, a moment of realization and self-mastery.

Let’s take a deeper look at this quote and read the first sentence again:

“All I know is that my life is better when I assume that people are doing their best”.

What if everyone IS doing their best, ALL of the time? It might not fit our standard at a particular moment in time, but if we can assume that’s their best, won’t it help to:

“keep me out of judgment and let me focus on what is, and not what should or could be.”

From that moment onwards I began to review all my ‘grudges’ with people. You know what I found? When I viewed them with this new understanding, with compassion, with the possibility that it was their best, I realised that I was viewing these relationships from my hurt self rather than my healed self.

The incidents in my life that had caused me pain, I had apportioned blame towards them as “their best” did not meet my standards, but what if it was the best the person was capable of in that moment? What about viewing that person differently and understanding they could be behaving from their wounded inner child, their hurt self rather than their healed self?

And who are we to judge anyway? Can you allow yourself to explore this possibility in your life and in your relationships?

Summer Yoga classes continue at Casa de Alegria with NEW MEDITATION CLASSES added to the schedule:

MEDITATION CLASS
MONDAY 19:00-20:00 IN PERSON
As noise, disruption and uncertainty in the world increases as we rise (evolve, awaken), it is all the more important for us to come together in unity and community for meditation to create peace in ourselves and for the world.

During classes we explore the power of breathwork, visualization, mantras, chanting, sound (recorded and live instruments with percussion) and silence. You can expect 10-20 minutes of seated practice, perhaps some light movement with the breath and sound, then 10 minutes of restorative poses before we finish with a sound journey in savasana.

RESTORATIVE YIN
WEDNESDAY 19:00-20:00 IN PERSON
These classes are a mixture of disciplines, we start relaxing in savasana, easing our way to a Yin pose then restoring for a couple of minutes in between each Yin pose. It’s a different approach to some Yin classes you might have tried.

HATHA SCARAVELLI INSPIRED
THURSDAY AND SUNDAY 10:00-11:00 IN-PERSON, SUNDAY 10:00-11:00 ON-LINE
When we do less, we learn to feel more. This is a gentle and supportive style of yoga with an emphasis on the use of breath and awareness of the spine to release tension from the body. It is a journey of exploration, giving you a sense of freedom to work at your own pace, in your own way. We use functional and somatic movement practices to expand our knowledge of the body and the breath in a gentle and relaxing way. Moving through passive holds to small flowing sequences, expanding our awareness of self and enables you to experience a new and profound way of moving and finding stillness.

Have you heard of The Healing Crisis and do you know what it is?

Explore an Understanding the Source of Pain Meditation & Journaling Practical Exercise and a Vulnerability Share

The healing crisis is a temporary worsening of symptoms or the emergence of new symptoms after a healing experience. Your body can react strongly to detoxification or trauma resolution as the body releases stored toxins and waste products, which can lead to a range of physical and emotional reactions. This can occur after a healing, a mentoring session, a massage, a Yoga class, acupuncture, starting a new diet, and medical interventions.

When we sit with our emotions instead of continuing to ignore them and push them away, we are doing
Shadow Work. Truth seeking healing journeys are not the easy route, which is why it is the often-lesser travelled path. It is easier to pop a pill and ignore pain right? It is easier to be all spiritual with love and light and continue to ignore pain warning signs and cover it up with incense and mantras right? And that my friends is a fine example of spiritual bypassing. To ascend, you first must descend to your depths, uproot all the crap you have stored then rise.

For example, if you play tennis or go for walks or are a swimmer, you eat healthy foods, you keep alcohol to a minimum but your are not able to recognise a toxic relationship in your life then you are completely overlooking shadow work.

Another example, if you have a Yoga practice, and are perfecting your downward facing dog or standing for longer in a balance but not able to recognise a toxic relationship in your life then you are completely missing the whole point of Yoga. Yoga is not just a pose, it is way of life. The Yamas (social ethics), Niyamas (personal practices) and Pranayama (breathwork) are just as important as the Asanas (poses or physical movement). If you are a Yogi and have never heard of these terms before then you have gotten caught in the Westernized style of Yoga. The one that leaves out the core theme of spirituality, the one that never mentions The Atman (The Godhead) or the 8 Limbs of Yoga. Don’t knock yourself for it, I was once stuck there too. It’s ok to evolve.

This week my Vulnerability Share is about one of my healing crisis’, specifically related to chronic tension and back pain, that led to neck pain and paralysis:

I have a lifelong habit of carrying tension in my shoulders that on occasion has travelled up to my neck, causing it to lock then release after a few days. At the end of November last year (2024), my neck locked catastrophically with a total loss of movement (paralysis) and extreme pain.

For a number of weeks before the paralysis, I was working……..

Last week I had my first paid subscriber on Substack and this is a HUGE achievement for me to celebrate. This may not seem like much to you, for me it is EVERYTHING! I am now considered a writer rather than a content creator on social media. I am now paid for my offerings. On Substack I have been able to expand my offering without adverts, algorithms, censorship and (hopefully) without data harvesting.

Why is 1 paid subscriber so important to me?

I had a history of low self-worth. One of the characteristics of low self-worth is giving too much of yourself away with nothing in return (over giving). That can be related to people or things. A person with low self-worth tends to be ‘friends’ with energy stealers, those that take and do not return. Some of the habits displayed from a person with low self-worth can be giving everything away for free, your time, your effort, in my case free yoga classes/retreats/mentoring support….the list is endless.

We learn in childhood that doing something for someone gets you praise, makes you feel loved. During my shadow work and awakening, I learned (remembered) that I cannot give until I am full. If your cup is half empty, what are you giving to others that you could direct at yourself?

Do you recognise any of this in yourself?

I spent HOURS writing posts for social media because I had the wound of over giving, the wound of needing to share so that it might help someone not to experience the pain I had endured. Now I share from a healed perspective. I share to support those who wish to receive. A fair energic exchange, a like for like.

I am now in the HABIT of recognising this. Just this week I pushed back on 2 requests from clients that were asking specific personal questions that are better served in a mentoring session. I easily stood within my boundary and I pushed back. The answer to their questions lies in booking a mentoring session with me. An energetic exchange. If you really want to shift something from your consciousness, it’s ok to do this with the support of someone else. For me external support (a master or mentor) has been ESSENTIAL to my freedom.

In Yoga class today I was posed with the question as to why at the end of Savasana, I sometimes give you an offering of ‘rolling onto your right side’ and sometimes I offer ‘roll onto your favorite side’:

Practical Considerations of Safety and Comfort:
Rolling to the right is a common practice in yoga classes, and it is often encouraged to maintain a sense of unity and avoid bumping into others when transitioning to a seated position in smaller spaces and busier classes.

I when I offer roll onto your favourite side, this is a Scaravelli inspired offering. If you have an issue with your right hip for instance, rolling onto your right side is not going to be achievable for you to relax.

Here are the benefits of the right side, if it is achievable for you:

In yoga, we typically roll to the right side after Savasana (co**se pose) for a combination of physiological and energetic reasons. Physically, it helps to ease the heart and circulatory system, while energetically, it is believed to promote a sense of calm and balance.

Physiological Benefits:
• Heart Health:
When you lie on your right side, your heart is positioned above your other organs, which reduces pressure on it and allows it to pump blood more easily. This can be particularly beneficial for those with blood pressure concerns.
• Blood Circulation:
Rolling to the right can help to improve overall blood circulation as the heart is not fighting gravity to pump blood to the upper body.
• Digestive System:
Lying on the right side can also help to promote healthy digestion by allowing the organs to move freely.

Energetic Benefits:
• Cooling Energy:
In yoga philosophy, the left side of the body is associated with the Ida Nadi, which is considered to be a cooling and calming energy channel. Rolling to the right allows this energy to continue flowing, helping to maintain a sense of tranquility after your practice.
• Balanced Energy:
Rolling to the right is believed to help balance the body's energy centers (nadis) and promote overall harmony.
• Eastward Orientation:
Some traditions associate the right side with the east, symbolizing new beginnings and a connection to grace and bliss.

We finally found a supplier of fresh farm eggs. We tried 3 suppliers previously, 2 of them recommended by friends and all were no shows on collection or delivery. Mark got into conversation with a lady who bought something from us on Facebook Marketplace, she told him she keeps chickens. When he relayed the conversation to me, I asked him to message her to see if she sells the eggs and a shot while later he returned with 24 eggs. Fresh eggs have increased health benefits than shop bought eggs, increased levels of vitamin E, omega 3 and vitamin A. One of the eggs had a double yolk which is said to bring good fortune. Amazing what conversation can bring 🍳🐣
