November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. It is the time of year in which we raise awareness about the dangers of Lung Cancer.

It is important to know the signs and symptoms, and so, here are some examples:

•A persistent cough that lasts three weeks or more.
•Breathlessness.
•Repeat chest infections.
•Chest or shoulder pain.
•Coughing up blood.
•A loss of appetite or unexplained weight loss.
•New onset of wheezing.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms contact your GP practice, early diagnosis and treatment of Cancer can save lives.

As yesterday marked World Menopause Day let’s talk Menopause.

Did you know there are around 34 symptoms of Menopause?

Night Sweats
Hot Flushes
Irregular Periods
Mood Swings
Memory Loss

These are just a few of the most known symptoms, but there are others that you might not even associate with menopause including anxiety, depression, panic disorder, irritability, fatigue, brain fog, decreased libido and more.

3 in 4 women will experience symptoms of menopause and these symptoms can be debilitating. Don’t suffer in silence, if you are struggling with any of these symptoms contact your GP for assessment and support.

October is Breast Cancer awareness month. It is so important we educate ourselves. Breast Cancer is the most common Cancer in women worldwide, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in her lifetime and it does not only affect women, men are can also be diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

Early detection is key! Breast Cancer can cause a number of signs and symptoms. Get used to checking regularly and if you find anything new or different, please contact your GP right away.

Did you know that there are three stages of menopause?

Initially, a woman’s hormones will start to decline and their menstrual cycle will become irregular, this is referred to as perimenopause.

This stage ends and menopause officially starts when the woman hasn't had a period in 12 months and has stopped producing their menstrual period hormones.

The final stage is postmenopause which lasts for the rest of the woman's life and increases their chances of developing certain health conditions such as heart disease.

On average a woman tends to reach menopause between the ages of 45 and 55 years of age, however, it can also occur earlier than expected as a result of cancer treatment, surgery or unknown causes.
