Healthy eating is not only defined by what you eat. It's also defined by how you eat, where you eat, who you eat with, and why you eat.

The circumstances under which we eat can have as big an impact on our health and digestion as what's on our plate.

Some tips for good digestion during and after meals:

1) Eat mindfully and without distraction
2) Eat slowly and chew well
3) Eat alone or with company that downregulates your nervous system
4) Eat until you feel comfortably full
5) Read the corona virus updates at another time
6) Choose food that tastes good to you. It does you no good to eat a super "healthy" cabbage salad if you have to choke it down.

Good morning sisters! Usually I don't announce brands on here.. But I fell in love with this new product from , a mallorquin brand created and led by inspiring women 🦸🏼‍♀️

I always recommend my clients to include almonds and seaweeds into their diet (especially when they're vegan or vegetarian).. Why?

Because combined they are one of the best sources of good fats, vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and manganese. For us women it's super important to remineralize our bodies, especially when we are bleeding, pregnant or breastfeeding.

So what if you are new to seaweeds and have no idea how to include them into your diet? I think this type of mixtures may be a good option to start with 😍

The dukkah (grinding, in Arabic) is a mixture of nuts, seeds and spices typical of Egypt. You can combine it with salads, creams and soups, hummus, rice, meat, fish.. It is a perfect and natural substitute for refined salt.

Humans love habits and sometimes avocado turns into our daily food choice.. And we start missing out on all the other healthy options!

Variety is key, so enjoy your toast with something else (or new!) every once in a while.. Such as hummus, lentil paste, vegetable cream, peanut butter, turkey breast, egg..

Chocolate cravings!!

Why do we crave chocolate before and during our period?! Blame your hormones.

After ovulation (middle of your cycle), levels of the feel-good hormone serotonin drop and insulin levels go up.

This dangerous combination leaves you reaching for mood-boosting foods like chocolate – that sweet mix of sugar AND fat – while insulin leaves you craving a sweet treat to raise your blood sugar (know the "hangry" state? That's the one).

At the same time, a drop in progesterone and oestrogen production makes you more hungry than usual, especially for comfort food containing sugar and carbs.

To help alleviate chocolate cravings, add more complex carbohydrates to your diet. Not only are they healthier, they also help you to feel fuller, moderate your blood sugar levels and alleviate cramps.

A good alternative could be a warm oatmeal with flax- or chiaseeds to stabilize your blood sugar, cacao nibs for the mood boost and some berries to sweeten it up a little bit! If after that you still feel those cravings.. Allow yourself your piece or two of chocolate 😉
