We thank our members for their dedication to safeguarding our profession and for highlighting a recent public statement that raised concerns. It is important to express that the views shared in said statement do not, in any way reflect the views, thoughts or sentiments of all psychologists. As psychologists, we work with individuals in their most vulnerable states, often navigating complex layers of trauma, including domestic violence. We must empathise, meet clients where they are, and guide them in making decisions that serve their best interests. Upholding our vow to “do no harm,” we recognise the damaging effects public statements can have on perceptions of confidentiality, safety, and objectivity. Ethics and professionalism are crucial in all interactions, including on social media, where respect, confidentiality, and boundaries are essential to maintaining trust and credibility. Insensitive discussions undermine our work and may deter individuals from seeking help. Psychologists should seek peer support and debriefing spaces rather than turning to a public forum. Let’s work together to foster a safe, inclusive environment—both online and offline—that encourages individuals to seek the care they need.

POSITIVE VIBES ONLY ISN"T A THING! It isn't possible or realistic to be "positive" all the time. All feelings are valid and should be welcome. You don't have to hold it together all the time. Sometimes we just need to fall apart in order to process and get past the difficulty.

Feelings are there for a reason. All feelings are valid and there to tell us something. Pause to feel your feelings; pay attention to your thoughts that come with it and remember that every thought isn't true. Take a deep breath and reset.
