The Three Layers of Healing: Understanding the Real Root Causes Behind Physical Symptoms
When a patient walks into a medical clinic with symptoms—thyroid dysfunction, breast abnormalities, chronic fatigue—the standard workup offers a tertiary-level diagnosis. Blood panels reveal hormonal imbalances. Imaging scans identify irregular tissue. Biochemical markers confirm what’s going wrong in the body. But these physical findings, while valid, are often just the final stage of a much deeper process.
To truly heal, we must explore what lies beneath the surface. Symptoms, like signals on a dashboard, point us toward underlying imbalances across three interconnected layers: tertiary (physical), secondary (energetic), and primary (emotional-psychospiritual).
🔬 Tertiary Layer: The Physical Manifestation
---------------------------------------------
This is the level most familiar to Western medicine. It includes:
Hormonal shifts
Cellular dysfunction
Inflammation
Tumor formation
Nutrient deficiencies
At this stage, the body is signaling loudly. Something has gone wrong, and it's now visible through lab results, imaging, and symptoms. Treatment at this level—medications, surgery, supplements—is often necessary to stabilize the system. But by itself, it may only address the end result, not the root.
🌐 Secondary Layer: The Energetic Block
---------------------------------------
The next layer involves the human energy field—what many healing traditions describe through chakras, meridians, or vibrational frequencies. Energy of life (prana, chi, ki, mana) is meant to flow, and when that flow is disrupted by stress, trauma, or emotional suppression, it can stagnate and pool in specific regions of the body.
People working with energy field (Reiki healers, acupuncturists, medical intuitives etc.) can detect blockages in energy flow and give treatment or unblock them. But without resolving primary root causes, they blockages will come back.
Examples:
The throat chakra, linked to communication and self-expression, sits near the thyroid gland. Chronic blockage here may correlate with thyroid issues.
The heart chakra, governing love, connection, and forgiveness, spans the chest and breast area. Disruptions here may correlate with conditions like breast cancer or heart disease.
Energetic blocks are often the result of internalized experiences—things we haven’t said, truths we haven’t owned, or pain we haven’t released. These blocks reduce vitality, constrict flow, and create environments in which physical dysfunction can take root.
💔 Primary Layer: The Emotional and Psychospiritual Root
--------------------------------------------------------
At the core, we find the emotional origin story—the psychological and spiritual wounds that shape our beliefs, behaviors, and energetic patterns.
These include:
Your spiritual core is fragmented by traumas/accidents (ego-states in psychology)
You gave your power away to other people
External energies attached to your system are draining you and overcast their own problems on you
Psychospiritual wounds from trauma, accidents, shocks
Not accepting and loving who you are and what is your purpose
Suppressed low-vibrational toxic emotions like anger, grief, shame, fear or betrayal
Fear of self-expression
Habitual people-pleasing
Lack of forgiveness (toward self or others)
This is where symptoms are seeded.
> The thyroid may not only struggle due to iodine deficiency, but because someone has spent years silencing themselves.
> The breast may not only harbor abnormal cells, but also repressed grief, guilt, or rage over lost identity, betrayal, or emotional neglect.
Case Patterns:
The corporate executive who never spoke their truth develops thyroid dysfunction.
The mother who abandoned her artistic dreams and carries guilt and resentment experiences breast pathology.
The child-turned-adult who internalized early abandonment never grieves, and symptoms cluster around the chest.
These emotional energies, when unacknowledged, become embedded in the body's subtle matrix. Over time, they filter downward—disrupting energetic flow and eventually altering physical tissue.
🔄 Healing Through the Layers
-----------------------------
Healing is most powerful when it moves from the root up:
1. Primary – Emotional honesty, trauma healing, forgiveness, reclaiming authentic voice
2. Secondary – Rebalancing energy through practices like breathwork, energy healing, somatics, meditation
3. Tertiary – Medical treatment, nutrition, physical therapies
When we begin addressing the true origins—not just the chemical results—we create the conditions for genuine transformation.
A thyroid patient who starts speaking up for themselves may find that lab values shift alongside their voice.
A breast cancer survivor who processes years of repressed grief and offers forgiveness may feel energy return to her heart—and clarity to her path.
🧭 Questions for Deeper Healing
-------------------------------
How much power you gave away?
Do you feel like not yourself?
Do you feel like some parts of you are missing?
What emotions have you silenced or feared feeling?
What truths have you compromised to maintain harmony or avoid rejection?
What forgiveness—of others or yourself—still waits within you?
The body doesn’t lie. But it also doesn’t speak in words. Symptoms are its language, and behind every message is a deeper story waiting to be heard, felt, and healed.
