A visit back to another Celtic land, this is the dolmen at Pentre Ifan in south-west Wales.

Once believed to be covered in earth and used as a burial chamber, but more archaeologists now believe that it was not covered and was build to be seen.

After seeing it today, I’d go with that too - the way the topmost piece sits on just three fine points and hovers barely a centimetre above a fourth, along with its slope that matches the slope of the hill it sits on, is pure art.

Since having pericarditis last November, today I had my first proper walk up the hill. The doctors told me no exercise for three months but going slowly I had no problems and the views were spectacular!

I wish I’d taken my proper camera but even the phone manages to pick up the light ok on the strange warm January day. I was hoping to catch the mountains, and in a couple of shots you can just about make them out, but mostly obscured by clouds. But what clouds!!

Lovely day for a walk but it really shouldn’t be 20 degrees out here in January - in two days it’s melted most of the snow in the Picos and I know it’s going to mess with the fruit trees as well.

I’ll go for a dip in the ocean this afternoon to cool off 😎

It feels so good to have some actual wintry weather. The last few years have been so warm that though the winter that I hadn’t realised how much I missed some properly cold and wet weather…I hope it lasts for a while :-)
