This morning’s Sailor Sunrise with the USS Paul Ignatius DDG-117 was more than coffee and pastries — it was a reminder that their sacrifice does not go unseen. With extra-early report times and long hours ahead, these shipmates paused for a moment of warmth, sharing fresh cookie butter and caramel Spanish coffee alongside local pastries made with care. It was an honor to support the family readiness group of the USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) with a special family program filled with fun crafts for the kids, freshly popped popcorn, and meaningful time together. 💙
With active duty spouses and parents serving, this space offered families a much-needed opportunity to connect, build friendships, welcome new families, and strengthen their support network. Seeing everyone laugh, create, and simply enjoy being together was a powerful reminder of the resilience and heart within this community.

Today we had the privilege of serving up fresh popcorn in the CLU for the hardworking Sailors of the USS Paul Ignatius 🇺🇸

There’s nothing better than the smell of fresh popcorn and the sound of laughter filling the room — especially when it’s shared with the dedicated men and women who serve our country every single day. The sailors aboard the USS Paul Ignatius work tirelessly, demonstrating commitment, resilience, and pride in all they do.

It was an honor to give back in a small way and see so many smiles. We are incredibly grateful for their service, their sacrifice, and the long hours they put in to keep our nation safe.

Yesterday, Mighty Thinkers was an exciting, hands-on exploration of bridges, which led into a bridge-building competition. The kids had a fantastic time and were especially talkative throughout the program. They asked lots of thoughtful questions and stayed fully engaged during the activities. As they worked together, many of the children made new friends, and it was wonderful to see those connections begin to form. The parents were just as excited, enjoying the opportunity to watch new friendships blossom. During the competition, everyone gathered around eagerly to see how much weight each bridge could hold, cheering each other on and celebrating their designs.
