It's a nightmare .... 😭
Whilst we were away over the Christmas holidays in the UK it rained none stop for 7 days and unfortunately the rain got in to our guest house through the roof and into the walls and has turned it really mouldy.
We knew the roof needing doing but we didn't think it would need to be this soon so we are having to stop everything we are doing and get to work fixing the roof.
The plan is to build a frame on the flat roof and raise it slightly on the one side then tile it sloping away from the house, hopefully this will fix the issue and stop this happening everytime there is a heavy down poor.
It is disheartening wen things like this happen all the time, effort and money gone into and it needs to be redone on the inside. We need to re-render and paint the walls and replace some of the wooden furnishing.
Never mind eh, it is all part of the journey and just an opportunity to make the guest house even better!

Earlier last year we renovated what was an old wash house / storage room into a lovely guest house studio apartment. This was the first major project we took on after buying the property in October 2024.
Jack did pretty much most the work by himself from plumbing, ground work, electrics etc with some help from friends.
The transformation is pretty impressive and I am so proud of Jack for achieving this.
There is still some work that needs to be done to this guest house, we are having problems with leaks with it being a flat roof and semi underground so the next few weeks we are going to look at reroofing, re rendering and re painting the whole building.

The Casita also has two wonderful outdoor terraces one leading off the master mezzanine bedroom and the other outside the front of the house with dramatic mountain views . You can easily access the pool area , yoga terrace , nature trails and outdoor self composting ‘ loo with a view’ from the Casita .
