𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 is a 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 that affects 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀. In poultry, it commonly spreads through contaminated feed and water, equipment, rodents, insects, and poor biosecurity practices. Birds may carry the bacteria without showing clear clinical signs, making early detection difficult.

Infected flocks can experience 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, and egg contamination. Certain strains can be transmitted to humans through 𝗲𝗴𝗴𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘁,or 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲, making Salmonella a major food safety and public health concern.

Once detected on a farm, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 are often required, including movement restrictions, enhanced cleaning and disinfection, and in severe cases, depopulation. Because Salmonella can persist in the environment, thorough sanitation and strong biosecurity are essential to prevent re-infection.

Coccidiosis is a common parasitic disease caused by Eimeria species, leading to intestinal damage, poor growth, and economic losses.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀:

• Bloody or watery diarrhea
• Poor weight gain and stunted growth
• Reduced feed intake
• Weakness and depression
• Increased mortality in severe cases

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹:

• Use of anticoccidial vaccines or feed additives
• Maintaining dry, clean litter
• Good farm hygiene and sanitation
• Proper stocking density and management
• Strong biosecurity measures
Effective prevention is essential for optimal flock performance.
